Just wondering how you guys with Honda's get your TPMS programmed when you change to winter shoes... You jus tpay the dealer twice a year???
I just let it run with the light on all last winter but it'd be nice if I could disable the VSA...

That's one of the reason I don't have winter rims, and I get them to swap the tires on and off the rims.
That light on the dash would drive my wife nuts.

I just ignore it. ... but shouldn't any independent shop be able to do it?
That's what I was wondering. The last shop I asked said it should program itself: yes if it were any other manufacturerOriginally posted by Canucks3322

Can you buy a tool to trigger the relearn? I have one for my Fiesta. Don't need a shop or anything, takes maybe 10 minutes to do all 4?
Cheapest I've seen is $150Originally posted by pheoxs

Do the honda's not learn in their own, I think most acuras do and I thought the sensors were very similar?
what year and model?
Euro
As far as I can remember Acuras (I assume it's the same for Honda if they have the TPMS with the silver base) needed that tablet tool to relearn the TPMS, but this was 2008ish.Originally posted by schocker

I remember having to reprogram always during winter tire swap season with that Honda tablet, PITA especially when these 'rich' Acura folk filled all 4 tires with that self sealant crap, immediate replacement of 4 TPMS.
I just know that the 09-10 tsx auto-learns and people were using RDX sensors I could have sworn the accord had the same sensors as the rdx. I just bought tsx sensors for my 11 and I am sure hoping they auto learn aswell
They are different systems entirely AFAIK. I have an 8th Gen Accord and a 4th Gen TL. The Accord you have to have reprogrammed (Urban X ) but the TL learns on its own.Originally posted by n1zm0

8th Gen Accord. The Accord you have to have reprogrammed.
How much did Urban X charge for program only?
I reluctantly pay Honda west ($100 usually I think) on my 8th gen. That was until they kept scratching the rear bumper by leaning the rims on it.
Curious what urban x charges as well.
The only honda vehicle that self initialize tpms is the ridgeline, touring Odysseys, and the 2014 and newer vehicle don't need programming all you have to do is hold the tpms button for 3 seconds

Airdrie Honda charges me $20 to reprogram the van. I leave the light on during summer but always reprogram in winter in case we need to turn TC off. Does Honda West really charge $100? Even Calgary Honda was only $40 last I checked.Originally posted by idriveabox

If you are already paying us to install your tires seasonally, we reset for free. If you do your own work or have it done somewhere else and just need a TPMS reset, we usually charge $20...
There is suppose to be TPMS that you can clone now that you don't need to have to bring in to the shop to relearn. I haven't checked with Urban X to see if they can get the TPMS that they can clone to the OEM ones.
I am in the same boat come next spring with my 2014 Odyssey. I'm using my OEM setup as my winter set and will be searching for new 19" or 20" spring/summer.
My bad, west charges $40 for the reprogram. The remainder was my swap fee. But after two instances of a scratched bumper, I'd rather pay urban to do it.Originally posted by Aleks

Yup. Put winters on and drive. 5-10 minutes you have data showing up.Originally posted by schocker

Some may but a lot don't. Our Odyssey only has 1 memory spot for the tpms. I had the winters programmed last year, took them off this spring and drove for 6 months and tpms light was on the whole time. I put the winters back on last weekend in the light went off as it remembered the old wheels.Originally posted by snowcat

I think a Ridgeline will learn up to 2 sets and even the top trim Odyssey Touring does.
