Car s a 2005 Subaru Outback 2.5XT. A week ago, the blower motor started making a buzzing noise when I had the interior fan on, and it was super annoying, no matter what speed I had it on. So I remove the cover, take the fan out, clean it out, run it outside of the car, and it still makes the noise. No big deal, just replace the part. For the next week, I drove around with the blower unplugged, just sitting on my passenger seat. One day I turned the heat on inside the car, thinking I had another fan on the driver side, but no air moved, and I turned it off. New blower arrives, install it, works great. Problem is.... now I only have two heat settings. When I have it set to the lowest setting, I get cold air. But if I turn it up even one notch (I used to be able to set it between 65-85) it goes to as hot as possible instantly. So now I essentially only have two air temperatures. Hot... and cold. What did I do?
