Question Lug Nuts - Does Hex Size Matter?

Hey guys, another lug nut question.

Looking on the McGard website they have Installation Kits. Set of 32lugs in a box for much cheaper than buying them separately.

    My question is Hex size.

On my truck the nut is 15/16" hex size and 9/16"-18 thread size.

On the 2014 my wheels are from the hex size is 7/8" and not sure of thread size except it's different.

On McGard they throw out a 2.5" bolt at 7/8" hex size but I don't want lug nuts that stick way out from the wheel. They have a 9/16"-18 kit with 1.75" nuts that will work, but the hex size is smaller at 13/16"

Any idea if that matters? I'd imagine it means the lug wall is thinner...but it is a set meant for 8 bolt installations which I believe are all HD trucks anyway...

    Pretty sure it doesn't matter.

Biggest issue is actually the lug spanner tool, if you have the wrong size for the lugs you are SOL if you have a flat.

Hex size does not matter, thread is the only factor along with lug nut style. Lugcentric or Hubcentric.
