    Default Honda recall (airbag problem).

The air bags made by Japan's Takata can rupture with too much force when a crash occurs. When they do, they spew metal chunks that can injure a car's occupants.

I got the letter today for my 2003 Civic. I posted this in case an affected owner may have moved and Honda can't make the contact.

Honda is suggesting that no one sits in the front passenger seat until the problem is fixed. Well the hookers I pick up will have to sit in the back. They end up there anyway

This would probably apply to Acura ELs of that generation too, I remember tons would come through at the dealer for SRS lights, then we blew them all up out back since it was pointless to send them to the manufacturer.

Takata supplies basically almost all big JDM manufacturers too, iirc even Mazda had a big one recently.

This spans more manufactures than just Honda.

Over pressurized airbag does not cause air bag light to come on, majority of the srs light coming on in 2001-2005 civic is the seat belt buckle.

Even though I put on my seat belt every time, my Civic still shows the seat belt light warning.

My 2002 Nissan Pathfinder got the same recall letter as well. Passenger side Air bag.

I believe Takata even supplies airbags for BMW's along the JDM brands.

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

Ya and it's an easy fix, just need a paper clip and some wire. I've reset mine multiple times.

I might do this recall but I disable the airbags in every car I own, they're way too dangerous. I've been hit with 2 and it wasn't fun.

I feel like you are comparing two different alternatives
Get in big accident and be hit with airbag or
Get in smaller accident and be hit with nothing

Maybe you should consider what happens when you get hit with the steering wheel?

Airbags saved my brothers life in a big collision years ago. And those were the Gen 1, full-force type. Gave his face quite the hit, but aside from some brusing, he was fine after a few days. We're 100% sure he'd have hit the steering wheel otherwise, and he probably wouldn't be here.

It's funny because I seen this recall way back in 2009. Exact same issue, over pressurized airbag. Wonder why it took this long just to send out recall letters and expand the range of vehicles involved.
