Two slightly different poses, two completely different edits, which do you prefer and why?

    First one, bright eyes.
Someday we may need to activate the halo structure off Deerfoot and destroy the North East.

Some from another work field trip ending in Field today. The Three Sisters looked particularly awesome today with the low-lying clouds and fresh snow - too bad I had to shoot it through a moving bus window LOL.

Exposure is better on the 1st, underexposing women rarely seems flattering.

Focus is better on the 2nd in that both eyes seem equally sharp. In the 1st the far eye is crisp and the close eye is out of focus. Always better to stop down to get both eyes in your depth of field, but if you have to choose, always go with the closest eye to the camera, it seems more natural.

Very cool shot Steve, looks like the 810 is working out well. Not sure how much is cropped but maybe a touch more room in the upper left corner if there is room

    ty for the feedback.

I'm just happy I was able to salvage something out of those shots, that was taken at Local 510 in extremely low light, and pretty much "shot from the hip" as we sat in a booth.

Out of camera both of those were essentially black. f2.8 1/6 sec, 3200 iso.

Perhaps f4 or so might have done the trick better?

EDIT: I hit the other eye with some sharpness in lightroom and it seems to have brought it into a fake focus really nicely.

msommers: that "scarf" photo of the 3 sisters is splendid

adamc - I like the first shot better simply because I like that warmer feel it has. The second is a bit colder for me!

msommers - Such wonderful fall (or...winter?) shots dude!! My fav is the second with the mountains, train, and river all in one. Beautiful!

If I'm at 1/6 and iso 3200 I'd have the lens wide open too, not much you can do in those circumstances. I've added fake sharpness to one eye in those situations too, I also find de-sharping the other eye a little bit can work sometimes.

Unfortunately no more left at the top left for it...it was climbing faster than I was...

Your train shot is excellent. Next year when they open up submissions for CP's calendar I'll let you know and you should submit it...

Thanks man! Yeah was pretty stoked how it turned out considering it was through a bus window on the move lol.

Stoked about shooting a mountain sunrise this weekend with the light sprinkle we've had. The 5:00am is going to suck balls

Sigma or Nikon? I really liked the Sigma when I borrowed Ryan's.

The Nikon, I'd be interested to test out the Sigma though.

No it doesn't, totally different directions.
Plus no frost or fog usually with a sunset and water seem more clear at sunrise. Sunrise > sunset. Less crowds for the sunrise too.
