    Default Tinnitus

Tinnitus - do you have it and if so, what have you found/used that provides relief?

I started experiencing increasingly worse tinnitus several years ago and have resigned myself to the fact it's something I'll just have to live with. I've had my hearing tested and nothing's wrong. Been to a number of doctors/specialists and no real solutions offered up. As I sit here writing this post, I'm enjoying a constant high pitch sqeal in my ears/brain - I've done some reading and it appears there may be some natural remedies although it's anyone's guess if these will actually work.

So do any of you beyonders have tinnitus or knows someone that does and how they have gotten relief? I would just like to be able to experience silence once again.

I deal with intermittent tinnitus in one ear. Not bad enough yet to warrant a doc.

For me, environmental factors sometimes seems to be the cause. Too much coffee, not enough sleep, bad temporary diet etc. seem to make it worse. Sometimes its a single cause, sometimes its a combination.

I found relief with massage around the face/neck area since I have TMJ and other jaw-related issues (bruxism).

As with most idiopathic maladies, eliminating the bad from the body (or bad reacting, food sensitivity etc) is a good first step in eliminating the obvious.

I believe I have a mild case of it. I know that when I wake in the morning and all is still I hear a constant faint high-pitched sound. Sometimes less, sometimes more and there are times when there is essentially nothing but overall, it's a daily thing.

Hearing tests say mine too is in fine condition with the exception of a certain frequency range that is "impact" damaged, likely from unprotected gunshot exposure in my youth.

I'm pretty skeptical of natural remedies for hearing related issues but I have not actually investigated any.

Keep hydrated. Small changes in your body fluids will cause the volume to increase or decrease. Start by cutting out coffee and colas but after that I got nothing. I have moderate tinnitus and mild to moderate hearing loss in my left ear and am researching the best hearing aid for my situation. The aids I'm looking into have a white noise setting that is said to help.

E sharp 24/7 is a bit of a piss off mine is a perfect match to the last scene I the last episode of Archer.

Ive had it on and off for a few years. over this time I have had tons of coffee, no coffee, good diet, bad diet.... All the while my tinnitus had no noticeable response to these changes. Mine seems completely random. I have not had any for a while now however which is great. I use to have the ringing in my right ear for 4-5 days at a time.

I have read zinc supplementation can help. I can not conclude if it for sure worked on me but maybe. Cant hurt for you to try a ZMA supplement.

It is a shitty thing... Hopefully gets better.
My ringing gets a higher frequency when I bite down. Does this happen to anyone else?

I have it and it sucks but it's only in my right ear. Started last December after going scuba diving. I was taking my open water course and couldn't equalize on my last dive on the 3rd day. My right ear remained plugged for a few days afterwards but eventually it opened up. I noticed pain in my right ear when listening to head phones a week later. I work out of town and have to drive about 7 hours to get to site and my right ear would be killing after the drive as well but would be fine the next day.

A few months ago I started having a constant ringing in my ear. I went to doctor a couple times since it started and he said it's nothing, just massage by your ear and take advil, well that didn't do shit. Went to another doctor last week, he looked at both ears and and put me on some antibiotics for a week, we will see if it does anything, I am half way through the meds and haven't noticed any change.

I have no idea if it has anything to do with the scuba diving but its a pretty big coincidence that it started right after that. I frigin hate this shit.

After about 3 month you develop the patients of a saint and an excuse for not hearing everything! This has got me out of some hot water with my wife on more than one occasion.

What I did was increase water intake and rest. If I've been over training and not sleeping enough it will get so bad it'll go from super high pitched to full on loss of at least 50% of my hearing.

With my job it's not uncommon for me to be up for 36 straight hours with no sleep or even a nap, when this happens at about hour 18 I start to get it and it just gets progressively worse as the hours tick by. Before bed I'll drink a ton of water and try to get 12 hours of sleep. When I wake up I'm fine.
We stopped checking for monsters under our beds when we realized they were inside us.

Is no one going to pick up the phone? Like seriously, do you not hear that?

I've had tinnitus for years and most times I don't even notice it. But other times when its quiet enough or I'm thinking about it I become aware of it.

I work for a well service company. It's not like I work 36 straight all the time but it does happen semi regularly. Especially since most of my peers have 7-25 years experience and can tell my boss to fuck off.

Last month I was on my job, got a call that a guy working on a well an hour away wasn't going to make it cause he missed his flight, so I had to cover for him, when he showed up I got another call that one of our guys got into it with the company man, so I had to run there till a replacement showed up, then I went back to my well.

I've also literally pulled off a job and got a call to drive 1000km to another job, worked there for a day then drove back to Calgary.

It fucking sucks but between double day rates and huge mileage it really bumps up my pay.

You also realize that youre literally cutting years off your life. I've worked like this before.

Once every few months? OK maybe, if the pay is idiotically good .... but not every few weeks !!

Worse part is trying to think critically after being up for 30 hours. (problem solving unknown issues)

I've had it pretty bad for a lot of years. I know of nothing to help it, years ago I also tried garlic, zinc and a few things. No change.

Interesting about the neck muscles though, mine are always tight and out of whack from working on the PC at a desk job all day and sleeping in my bed and pillow don't help. I might have to try some exercises.

Ive had it periodically and it has went away. The Docs said mine was allergy related.

I have tinnitus because Bourge73 got mad feedback on his amp one jam practice. Ringing ever since.

Left ear is now extremely bad because of TMJ/TMD. Every time my jaw cracks, the ringing gets a little worse. the TMJ is putting a lot of pressure on my ear drum.

If anyone knows how to get TMD/TMJ relief, post it up. I visited a dentist, but got nothing beneficial.

Bumping this old thread. Has anyone been able to find anything that has helped with their tinittus? I've had it for about 2.5 years now. The last year was going really well. I learned to habituate to it and the hyperacusis had gone down a lot. Then out of no where a it all went to shit again a couple months ago. The tinitus is louder and my ear is even more sensitive to sound again.

Has anyone gone to any of the audiology places in town and seen some positive results?
