    Default Audi/VW Shops

Any recommendations? I'm looking for a used Audi A4 or a GTI. I have never own a German vehicle before so I would like to have it look at and replace/repair whatever it requires.

I guess I should also ask is buying a 08 A4 with 100,000 KM worth it, or am I looking to spend an arm or leg in the future?

been a while since I've been in Calgary, not sure if these places exist, but these are the only 3 I ever trusted.

    Concept 1
    Tune Dub
    Mike's Auto Haus

Also, 100,000kms on a German vehicle isn't all that much so long as the price is adequate, and proper maintenance has been done throughout it's life.

    They are butchers.

I've seen so much sub-standard work come out of there, I'd never go back.

As my post said, I haven't been back since I moved to Vancouver nearly 8 years ago. They were good at one point.

    Thanks for the heads up!

There's probably at least a dozen identical threads with near unanimous recommendations for Tune Dub by now for Audi/VW off warranty repair.

Only downside is the wait time to get in because he's so good (2ish weeks usually).

I made an appointment with George based off the amazing things people said about him and it's about 2.5 weeks out, November 7th.

Midtown or tunedub. They're located in the same area too.

When you go to a dealership for example and need to get X done to your car. They look up how long X takes in a book and charge you according to that. If Y needs to be replaced and its right by X and really requires no extra time, they tack on the time for Y to be replaced.

Is Midtown or Tubdub like that? I know a few mechanics that are good with not charging time where time isn't needed but now that I have an Audi I'd rather go to someone who knows these cars inside and out cause the TT can be complicated.

I believe George came from one of the VW dealers in Calgary, so you really dont have to worry about anything with a 1.8T.(or 3.2) They really arent that complicated as they are widely used across the Audi and VW line up.

You would have to ask him on specific quotes...

Got a quote to replace a thermostat and they qouted me 375.xx and requires 2.7 to 3hrs labour!

This job should take no more then 45mins MAYBE an hour if you know what you're doing.

Then do it yourself or stop complaining....
A Ferrari is a high maintenance chick, you spend money regardless of what you do with her. You can baby the C63, or slap on all seasons, and you won't be spending anything but yearly maintenance. Of course that's like dating a stripper and refusing to fuck her, which would make you gay.

He quoted me about half as long as the dealer for a clutch/flywheel.

    Tunedub seems hit or miss.

Have had great service and work done there at times, other times have been genuinely unimpressed. I found an independent guy to work on my S4 who is amazing, he had worked for Audi for 4 years and Porsche for 2. Great mechanic, extremely fair and honest. PM me if you want his #.

Pretty sure most newer VWs have overly complicated packaging which would be why 3 hours are required. Gone are the days where you could hide a family of illegal immigrants between the engine and the radiator in your rabbit.

I used to go to Tunedub, till I found Mike's Autohaus in Airdrie. He saved me so much the first time I went there, that I haven't been back to Tunedub since
