Default Welcome to the Ford ST Owners Club!

Welcome to the Ford ST owners club!

First off, thanks very much to the site admins/owner for setting up this forum area for us. Also thanks to the local ST owners on here who supported the idea and played a big part in actually getting this up and running.

This ST club is dedicated to all Ford Focus ST and Fiesta ST models, also open to other trims of these cars belonging to owners who are enthusiasts. It isn’t exclusive by any means, and if you don’t happen to own one please still feel free to participate in discussion. Most dedicated sites have these two models separated, however due to the rarity of the cars there is not a big pool of local owners, so the underlying intent of this club is to bring everybody together to try and foster a larger community.

The purpose of this forum area specifically is simply to put owners in touch with one another, arrange meets, plan for racing events, share technical information, review aftermarket products, and other general discussion around the vehicle. I ask mostly that people keep it positive and light, if you do have a problem with somebody specifically take it to a PM to get it resolved.

Anyway, welcome to the club & we will see you on the track!

Im obviously bias but focus ST. Just bigger, and larger motor and more power. Lots of aftermarket support. Though lots of it for the fiesta as well.

I love how both look. I'm just more partial to the focus it being a bigger car with more room and more power

I like both, but it really depends on what you are looking to use it for

Focus is more of a real car with proper sizing and space, more power, much more livable day to day. It is also the quicker one of the two.

The Fiesta is a cheaper car so a lot rougher around the edges, and it definitely does not ride as smoothly. On the other hand it is lighter, and it tends to drive like a go-kart on steriods.

Here is a good comparison of the two:

    http://www.roadandtrack.com/car-revi...focus-face-off

    Conclusion Highlights:

Focus ST: A (hatchback) muscle car. Decently practical, with too much power and pay-attention handling. It'll have tons of fans. We like it.

While the turbo four pumps out grunt, your arms pay the price. The electric power steering tries to filter out torque steer and sometimes nails it, but you never know what you'll get. It's occasionally entertaining. Other times ...

Fiesta ST: A (hatchback) sports car. Same power-to-weight as BMW's fabled first-gen M3! Okay, it's not quite that good. But we love it. The easy winner.

A sweetheart. Less power means less torque steer, and better balance means fewer moments of annoyance. Does sideways, but only when you ask. More flingable, consistent, and reassuring. And nothing like the Focus.

Fiesta ST is a turbocharged Go Kart
    -MotorTrend

Anybody coming from a big pig of a car is going to find the Fiesta ST to be as nimble and light as a Go Kart.
    -RallyWays.com

The car arrives that way from Ford. It also arrives with a recalibrated suspension setup that lowers the car by 15 mm while transforming it into a Go Kart in the corners.
    -Driving.ca

The turbocharged Ford Fiesta ST—that’s the shifter Kart of the Fiesta lineup
    -Subcompact Culture.com

That's what we're talking about here in the 2014 Ford Fiesta ST. ... already a solid handler for a bargain basement subcompact, but now it's gone full on Go Kart.
    -MotorWeek.org

Surely though, the front-drive ST isn't just a straight-line performer, rather, it feels more like a grown-up Go Kart.
    -Autos.Yahoo.com

Chris Bowen drives the Ford Fiesta ST under the watchful eye of an expert! My observations were that it has that real Go Kart feel
    -ETFM.com.au

Recaro bucket seats to keep you in place while pulling G-force in this monster Go Kart.
    -TopSpeed.com

Fast and handle like a Go Kart; I've got a normal Fiesta which I like but yeah, those ST's are rather nippy!
    -Chris Wakelin

...I could go on, there is literally endless references to Go-Karts when it comes to the Fiesta ST

There are more relative "go karty" cars than the FiST though.

^^ It has a lot to do with the gear ratio and how many times you need to shift, I wouldn't get hung up on the 0-60 because they are quick.

My Isuzu was if you are talking in the pure sense... although no power steering and the tin can feel gets old

I can't think of another car that would be closer in terms of giggle factor though. There are quicker cars, but they feel more like rocket ships (and... yes, I have never been on a rocket ship before you guys jump all over me)

It's not fast. It's not a 1/4 car either nether is the focus. Really fwd cars make the most useless 1/4 cars
