I just received this notice today for $255 and it says i have 10 days to pay this or it i going a third-party debt collection agency.
Can they really send this to a debt collection agency and damage my credit?

Of course they can.
How can they prove that I was there on the three dates they claim? Do they keep photos?

Isn't their 3rd party debt collection agency just another wing of their company? I seem to recall from the threads about ImPark that in Alberta, the only people that can affect your credit because of unpaid parking tickets is the city, like ParkPlus. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
EDIT: Thread I was thinking of. Link.
CPA, ImPark and Westpark are all different groups.Originally posted by xnvy

Yeah but CPA/Parkplus isn't private unlike Westpark and ImPark so the latter two would be subject to the same regulations, no?
Don't pay it, they can't touch your credit.

Maybe I was too flippant. My answer was in response to can they send it to collections? Of course they can. Does that mean anything? Probably not.
I hate assholes like you who think they're above paying for parking. If I can pay $600/mth to park downtown, why can't you?

Did you receive the notice in the mail? How did they get your personal information? I didnt think they had access to registry information through license plates?Originally posted by Konj

PS: OP let them call you. If they want to waste their time taking it to collections it won't affect your credit.
Yes I did receive it in the mail. I have no idea man, that's why I am surprised about this one and wanted to see if anyone else had similar experience?Originally posted by RY213

Relax man, I didn't drive to work and park downtown and not pay parking. All 3 tickets were at 8 pm, probably out downtown clubbing or going for dinner at a restaurant.Originally posted by M.alex

You are wrong. As it's been pointed out numerous times on beyond and in the news, these companies have limited access to the registries database and have for quite a few years now.Originally posted by RY213

my friend got screwed over by this. they sent to collections and his credit rating dropped a bit. It was with Westpark as well. He had a bunch from impark but nothing came from those ones.

Don't know how, Transunion and Equifax have both said they don't take reports for delinquent parking fines.Originally posted by GotRice?
