I see those here and there but i also see the same truck listed for half by realistic people. ive seen people ask more for a used truck than it costs new, They justify it by posting the window sticker listing full msrp which doesnt include the huge rebates.

    Taco's get my vote too

A couple have already been mentioned, but..

    - Toyota Tacoma
    - Jeep Wrangler
    - Cummins powered Rams

The used prices on these are nuts IMO.

Used cars are definitely the better deal if you are looking at preserving your initial "investment", but then if it is a daily driver, maintenance and repairs could decrease the benefit.

If you are looking new car, Mercedes C400 has a 3 year residual of 67% right now which is crazy high. And I think they might be right because the car looks great and drives great and is way better than the old C Class. It might be one of the best new cars to buy right now for resale assuming they are correct.

Unfortunately if you want to lease, they are at 4.9% which is too high imo. A fully loaded one had over $9k interest in 3 years which is too much imo. If you bought it out at the end of 3 years it would be almost $80k spent.

4th gen f bodies..particularly 98-02 models with the LS1 power plant. I bought mine for $9900 bone stock 2 owners with 113000 kms. Sold it 3 years later with 150000 kms for $7500. With a worn out clutch and driver's window motor on the way out. I guess a lot of it depends on how well you maintain the cosmetics. Particularly the paint and interior. No pets, food, smoking. Wash and wax regularly. That helps keep the value over a black foot trailer park special .

I still say that 86-93 fox bodies, especially cobras and LX's (5 speeds) hold their value really well. Provided that they aren't abused and rusty. They are really rare to find with low mileage and in good shape here.

As for 03/04 cobras I tend to agree with Shlade. They do hold value to an extent, but I wonder how many of them sell for 25-30 grand. Maybe a mysti chrome vert. I'd expect to get lower 20's for one. They sit on kijiji for months.

Integra Type R & Good condition LHD 240 sx's seem to hold their value well.

    Mercury Marauders.

R35 GTRs didn't see it mentioned.

R8s seem to be decent. I always thought I'd be able to pick up a used 08-09 for $60k.

Any muscle car really (64-73) You can hold onto it for a decade and likely it won't lose any value.

I have noticed Subaru' cars hold value very well, high resale prices.

80's, and 60's El Camino' hold there value if they are in good shape, and even if they're rough, they hold their value.

In my experience, I have noticed that GM G body car have held their value fairly well.

Another vote for the 4R. Bought a 2014 Trail in February of 2014, wife hated it, sold it in August for $1500 less than I paid. Any other vehicle and it would have been a financial bath.

Edit: honourable mention to the M3. Sold my 08 coupe after 12 months and got what I paid, minus some operating costs. Regretted it so I bought another one.

Thats because there are specific buyers for them. There are a surprising amount of people who don't realize the potential of these cars. Just because they sit on the market for a bit sometimes doesn't mean that the value isn't there.

When I bought mine I was searching for about 3 months to find the one I wanted as they are hard to find in Canada. I almost went down to the states to buy one but ended up finding one in Edmonton. I sold it 3 years later (had it on the market for about a month) for $500 less than I paid. And I felt that I slightly overpaid in the first place....

If Im not mistaken, you own/owned a Cobra, ya?

    Default mini trucks

Japanese mini trucks get my vote.

Bought one with 20,xxx from japan for 6800

Drove it for 90,000 km, I think odo hit 111,654 or something and sold it for 5500

Thats holding value in my opinion.

lol it's true and ultra reliable. Had a friend buy a used NSX in 1992 for 40k, all he did was change the oil and tires during the time he owned it, then sold it in 2002 for.... 40k lol. Can't beat that.

I wonder why Subaru holds value so good. Besides AWD+Canada. I also wonder how many of them actually sell at listed price, and for those that don't, how much they actually sell for on the used market.

    08-14 STi = ej257's blowing at random.
2.2/2.5 N/A motors that pop head gaskets left right center.
Weak sauce 5spd trannys mated to turbo motors.
Something about the 3.0 H6 in Outback.
Excess carbon build up, hard to get at spark plugs.
"Antifreeze conditioner" a regular maintenance additive as suggested by Subaru, even sold by Subaru?

    FR-S/BR-Z
S2000 (these are going UP in price!)
6spd 350Z/G35Coupe retaining value like crazy, they refuse to devalue anymore.
    K20Z3 Honda Civic Si (07-11)
    Scion TC
    Any Lexus
Acura holds value pretty good especially any with SH-AWD, and the 07/08 TL Type S which isn't budging, maybe even going up in value a little.

    The G8 GT/GXP and 04/05 GTO.

Corvette C5/C6, C6's I would imagine have taken quite a tumble though just with the C7's in the picture now.

There's a Clownshoe for sale for $62k right now.

I'd say we're holding onto value pretty well.
