My father in law used to have his own company servicing printers, copiers, fax machines and type writers. Most medical and legal outfits still run faxes because they are preceived as secure (as mentioned before), and what I found the most interesting was nearly every law firm uses type writers for a portion of their work because it doesn't store anything in memory and the tape can be destroyed after. Through that I found out Brother still makes typewriters and repairable parts.

Are fax machines considered a ‘secure’ means to send private info? Not sure what else is keeping them around.
We still have over 90 on campus. Mine is not to question why, mine is but to provide and maintain the circuit. Secure depends on a few factors, primarily analog vs voip. If voip, then it depends on the security of the network to which the device is connected. Generally though I would agree that faxing be secure is an antiquated and false sense of security.

Secure in the sense that it's unlikely to be intercepted by a malicious actor. But in secure in the sense that you can send it by normal human error to a wrong number, and there's no form of confirmation of reception, so it can be lost easily.

secure only in that one specific narrow sense. Insecure in every other way.

Dangggg. I definitely don't have that kind of typing accuracy to live pre-backspace.

Analog is pretty hard to compromise. Your only real method is physical interception.

Whereas with everything TLS encrypted if you can place your own cert and put in a root cert all your traffic is compromised.

Handy when it coils the paper up and it falls behind the machine for a decade before the next govt worker finds it.

People who try to build a personal relationship with you too quickly and it pushes you away hard. Why are some people so desperate to be close so quick? It's weird.

    Modern Ford diesels.
Could you please find a way to burn diesel with a more noxious odour than anyone in recorded history? Oh wait, you already have.
