Anybody know if power rates have come down from winter? I need to lock in a fixed rate soon
I locked in with atco at 10.89 and i think right now they are at 12.69 or somewhere around there. I locked in over new years when they were running a marketing promo. Fucked up though cause i locked gas at 5.99 at that time which was obviously peak season. But ny overall bills skew more towards electricity than gas because of the 1600 cannabis plants im growing.

    Wait what.

TIL there’s a credit check for fixed utility rates.
Is this actually true? Coworker moved here from India with zero credit history and nothing was asked of them to get on a locked rate. They just signed up and that’s it.

Apparently so from what I’ve seen and heard on AM770 but maybe it’s a pretty lax thing.

Enmax is and has been 12.99c/kwh for quite a while now
God damm, when I move and transfer my services, do I keep my old rates?

    EasyMax: 6.59¢/kWh 5-Year Fixed Electricity
EasyMax: $4.09/GJ 5-Year Fixed Natural Gas

that is what I have right now

Probably. Isn't it linked it an account? Or is it based on the meter?
    Worth a call.

2.4 cents per kWh. And much less bs fees broken out as transmission/ distribution on top as well.

    Fuck Alberta’s electricity market.

The fine print is that the daytime rate is also changed in that plan, and it's MUCH higher than the normal daytime rate people are paying right now.

Not a good deal for most people, but a cool option.

8 hours is crazy though, I would have done max 6, maybe 4 (midnight to 4 am)

An electric car off a Nema 14-50 (or higher) is a lot of cheap juice.

Getting on the pre-sale gov't control list with the $75 discount code.
    No thanks.
I'm sure there's psychology in those who sign up also wouldn't reject other Trudeau advances.

$2.5/hr to give up thermostat control is hilarious. I might consider it for $75/hr.

Seems like a free 75$ if you just attach a switch beside your thermostat to override the AC on, no?

This was a thing in britain back in the 1970's I want to say. You could get a technician to come to your house and disable your heating in the springtime, and they'd come back in the fall and enable it, just for the cost of a service call-out. My dad knew someone who did this, and he considered them "stupid buggers". Britain isn't that hot of a climate that you don't need heating for half the year, even during the current cLimAtE EeeeeeeemerGenCy.
