Default What do you heat your house at?

Curious to see what other beyonders do for heating. I keep my house at a steady 19 Celsius all winter long. Would I save money on heating if I let the temp come down during the day and then heat it back up come 5-6pm?

What do you guys have your thermostats set at?

20 degrees in the rooms we are using during the day... we don't really heat the bedrooms unless it's chilly at night.

We also live on the Island and have electric baseboard heat which can be controlled by room... so our set up is a bit different.

We did 18 degrees as the default temp setting in our house in calgary and would bring it up to 20 when we were home and watching TV, etc... let it fall to 18 at bedtime.

My overnight temp is 16.5, but our house cools off so slowly, that it won't hit that unless it's -30 outside.
Daytime temps range from 20.5 to 19.5, we've got more complicated program going.

I think most people turn it down at night, during work hours, or while on Vacation. Assuming you have decent windows/insulation I think that's the way to go, since you house isn't going to cool down that fast anyway, so it's just making sure your furnace is off.

I can't imagine it makes too much of a difference compared to leaving it at 19 C year round though. Everyone I know seems to like it at 21-23C, so turning it down would be to 18-19C or so, but you're already there haha.

    17c at night/nobody home
    19c when we're home

I don't like it hot at night.... probably could knock it down to 16/16.5 at night easily.

22C all day long. Roommates work random hours and the one that lives in the basement is always super cold.

Don't care too much about the gas bill since its split 3 ways it doesn't hurt all that much. We'll see once it gets really cold.

Edit: Before when it was just me it was ~19 most of the time since it gets really warm upstairs.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again...you can't really compare accurately, because depending where your thermostat is located, it might give a false sense of temperature.

e.g. ours is in the middle of the hallway of the bedrooms, which is consistently the warmest spot in the house, so it's set at 23*c, but in reality, the living room (where we spend most of our time) is 21*c

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

22-23 when we're home. I think it goes down to 21.5 at night. I hate being cold.
