In hindsight, the double points for the last three races wouldn't have made a difference anyways, because its been a Merc 1-2 equally for both drivers, so we'd still be in the position we are in now. 17 point lead for Hamilton with one race where double points could make a difference. Yes, we wouldn't have foreseen Ham/Ros splitting 1-2 equally when the rule was decided on, but regardless, we'd be in the exact same position we are now.

There has only been 1 race all year where a Merc wasn't in the Top 2 places, and even then they were 3rd.. with Lewis (in Hungary). I think it would take a wackjob to bet against Lewis winning the WDC.

I'm looking at it this way... Nico hasn't won back to back races all season (or his F1 career for that matter). He won in Brazil, he isn't winning in Abu Dhabi. Seems perfectly reasonable to me.

One doesn't simply "get good" at SAP implementations.

If I were Lewis, I'd just sit back and coast to 2nd. He'll easily have a double digit gap to 3rd and Nico can't ram him from 1st.

That sounds logical but Lewis will not just sit and take the second place. He is a racer at heart.

Some thing crazy is going to happen in Abu-Double

I think Lewis is intelligent enough to bide his time behind Rosberg, even if he wants to win.

If I were Lewis, I would try to maintain the balance of "I know I can cruise behind in 2nd but on a fresh set of tires...I'll push and if you shit then I will be there to snatch the win away"

Lewis can afford to tangle with Nico as long as if things go wrong, they both get taken out. Lewis could just take a page out of his idol's book and lock it up before T1.

During an interview before Brazil he mentioned that he'll be smarter about this but at the same he would still be chasing for the win.
He mentioned that he learned his lesson from 2007 when he tried too hard and it ended up costing him the championship.

I know I am sure that is what is playing in Nico's mind as well.

Lewis could just end it in the first corner and take out the whole reliability question. Prost, Senna, Schumacher all did it . I guess that's what Nico meant in the press conference when he said Lewis can make sure he drives clean. Quite an awkward press conference with Seb, Fernando and Jenson in the front row and Nico and Lewis separated by Hulkenberg.

In today's F1, if Lewis did that he would throw his contract talks out the window with Mercedes. No way Merc. would put up with that.

Honestly... I just want Hamilton to put it on Pole (looking good so far), and then drive away from Nico to a 10-15s gap and win the race.

Merc put up with Nico and a Slap on the wrist and rewarded him with a contract extension.
Don't tell me Merc will throw the cotract talks out the window. Even if that happens Lewis has other options.

Yea mid season... We still don't know what the punishment was and never will. I will bet it hurt in other ways.

Who knows the agreement could be to give Hamilton the championship

Comparing Prost, Senna, Schumi-esque blatent title contender take outs to the end plate of a wing you can't even see clipping a tire are two totally different things. I may not like Rosberg, but I'm not dumb enough to believe he did that on purpose.

Senna straight up took Prost out and had no intentions of making it around the first corner. Regardless of his "go for a gap" statements, he knew what he was doing, and to be honest the relationship between him and Prost was alot chillier than that of Ham/Ros.

Same with Schumi on Damon Hill (??)... Blatantly took him out..

Other options? Like what? Ferrari is Full, Williams is Full, Red Bull is Full, Mclaren, who freaking knows, but likely Full... You think he's prepared to walk away from the most dominant car in F1 right now? A car that will likely hand him his 2nd WDC, and possibly 3rd and 4th..

Nico admitted that he did that on purpose to Prove a point.
Other options after 2015....Mclaren has made it no secret that they want him back. Do you think that there will be no interest form Ferrari and Redbull if he becomes avaialble? I agree Merc is dominant right now but we all know how this circle works and don't bet against the masters of the Turbo - Honda

Honda's being turbo experts in the 80's F1 era really doesn't translate to today's engines. Even if it did, that's not where Merc is winning. The Ferrari/Renault/Mercedes turbo engines are all making similar power. It's the energy recovery, storage, and usage system where Mercedes has the huge advantage. That's where 99% of the power gap comes from.

Of less concern, but still somewhat exciting is the battle for 4th in the WDC with 3 points separating Alonso, Vettel and Bottas. I'd love to see Vettel pushed to 6th.

4 Sebastian Vettel German Red Bull Racing-Renault 159
5 Fernando Alonso Spanish Ferrari 157
    6 Valtteri Bottas Finnish Williams-Mercedes 156
