Just picked up a 75" 1080p tv and do not like the resolution watching sports. Coming from a 50" plasma the screen looks choppy.

Question is would a 4k tv improve this?
A 4K TV is going to scale anything you feed it up to 4K (even if it looks bad), otherwise the image wouldn't fill the screen. The quality of the upconversion will determine if it looks better than native 1080P or not, but it is still introducing extra information to the mix to upscale the signal to 4K. Plasma is going to be *way* better for spots/action than a LCD in most cases, you're most likely just noticing a low refresh rate. Does your TV have a "fast motion" or "smooth motion" or "240hz mode" or "anti judder" or anything like that? It will look like shit for most other content but probably better for sports and/or animations. Buying a 4K TV will not fix this.

The other possibility is low signal strength from your service provider. You mention it's a satellite, so check your signal strength as well. If the signal isn't strong, the TV tries to fill in areas it doesn't have enough data for and you get a similar effect.

No complaints. We use it to watch Blu-ray/DVD and I game on it frequently. It's pretty awesome.

Search for projector screens on kijiji. I found a really good retractable one and I haven't looked back.

Slightly off topic but this is the second thread on page one where people are calling these TVs LED when it's an LCD...
You have a couple of photos that are great... you must be very good at photoshop!

A lot of people haven't a clue that it's simply the back/side lighting technology. They are often the same ones that buy things due to fancy buzzwords haha. We all know what they mean though at least.

Sorry, I thought it easier to just bump a different thread that was somewhat related...

Any opinions on this deal from Visions?
This will be in a bonus room with mostly Cable/Netflix use and about 20% BluRay & Gaming.
I'd love to go 70" or bigger but not looking to go over $2500. I honestly probably can't tell the difference in picture quality in most of these units. I'm really happy with my current LG 40" and I really like using the Magic Remote.

    LG 65" 1080p 240Hz 3D Smart LED HDTV (65LB7100)
    $1,998.00

    Thanks

Can you control the light in that room? If you want to go bigger than 70", you can do so and with similar or better picture quality and a lot less money if you go the projector route. If it's a bonus room and not a dedicated theater room though, it may not be ideal.

Curved TV's are stupid. They ran out of ideas and features, and someone came up with curved. Have you seen it hung up on a wall? It looks fucking stupid.

It's a fad that will go away in 2-3 generations.

What exactly is the point of a curve screen anyway?

Completely off topic but whatever happened to full array LED LCDs? Those were insanely expensive when they first came out but they also had insanely deep black levels. It's almost like they lasted a single generation and went away.

Doesn't curvature cut off angle viewing because it's concentrated towards the center?

Vizio still makes some, not sure who else does off the top of my head. With everyone being obsessed with ultra thin "LED" TV's, which don't even technically exist haha, it's unfortunate that we have lost so many other options like numerous full array led-lit LCD's, Plasmas are all but dead, etc. Thankfully, the projector market is only getting more popular should you have the appropriate environment.

I also think curved TV's look hideous, especially on the wall. I don't like them very much, but that's fairly subjective.

Shrug. Just telling you what the manufactures are saying. I think it makes no difference, and you end up with a TV that looks retarded mounted on a flat wall.

Why do you think they're discounting 'em so hard now? They're not exactly flying off the shelves. I upgraded all my TV's to 8000 series Samsungs last year because they were all being replaced by the damn curved screens.
