Two Wildrose MLAs jump ship and join the PCs

Not going to be much left of the party at this rate!

I had high hopes for the Wildrose party, but it doesn't seem like they can get thier acts together.

Voting down that policy statement on equal rights is madness, given that it wouldn't have comitted them to any specific actions. Hell, Even the bigoted homophobes should have just held thier noses and voted for it as a method of bringing themselves into the mainstream. Sadly, it appears a lot of the grassroots members really want to remain a fringe party.

Yup and we will have no opposition to the rat bastards in the PC's for another 40 years. Welcome to Ontario.

In fairness to the WR despite my general distaste for them, they already have an equal rights policy that states all Albertans have equal rights and responsibilities, it just doesn't specifically name particular at-risk groups like the proposed policy statement.

Yea one of the cited reasons for not adopting was they were afraid of offending a group by accidentally leaving them out.

    Regardless, they should've passed it.

I suppose if "Obese white guys who can only see their cocks by looking in a mirror" was on that list they would've voted it in. Because that's the persecuted group.

Yup. It seems many people don't know this. The media had a field day with their decision to vote the new policy down. They probably shouldn't have brought it up in the first place.

In fairness to WR, I met a skinny old white dude who was a WR candidate once.

    Too bad for Smith.

She speaks well, is down to earth, and doesn't dodge questions like most politicians.

I'm pretty sure Smith is done. The WR won't be able to muster enough support to take on Prentice in the next election which I think is in 1.5 - 2 years? After that there will be four more years of general PC government meaning it will realistically be 6 years before WR gets another shot. No way Smith is running the show for the next 6 years.

I heard Ian Donovan speaking on the radio this morning about why he left the Wildrose. I couldn't believe it when he said that he thought the Wildrose was not socially conservative enough for him and that the Wildrose was left of the PC party on social issues. He also complained about the Wildrose listening to social media re: social issues.

IMHO if the social conservatives abandon the WR, that only strengthens the WR position of a more centrist alternative with fiscal conservative policies. Still not my cup of tea, but moving the right direction.

Well I am not sure what the social conservatives expect to gain from joining the PROGRESSIVE conservative party.

IMO these are just career politicians who think ( and maybe they are right) they see the writing on the wall and want to keep their jobs through the next election.

The PC's will hold their noses and let these backbenchers join to prove a point. Doesn't change anything in the province.

This move changes absolutely nothing. Whether your majority is 55% or 60% changes nothing.

It would be quite comical if these deadbeats ( which I am using as a term for people who jump ship based on the direction the wind is blowing rather than what they believe) get voted out in the next election

Why doesn't this party exist in Alberta? Seriously.

Why do you have to be a racist to be able to keep the economy moving?
