Any bets who lasts longer on council? Chu or Gondek.
Haha Chu's probably thinking this arena debacle has been a blessing since it's taken the heat off of him

Old arenas are so much better. The last two brand new arenas I've been to, which are "climate pledge" in Seattle and Chase Center in SF, were a big step back in terms of comfort. They build them like airliners now and cram in as many seats as possible as tightly as possible. There is really no benefit for fans IMO. Also, you guys keep electing retards wtf.

That said, governments shouldn't pay for arenas. It's a scam every time and it's not the job of government.

I still don’t get why Seattle chose “climate pledge” arena when “the thunberg dome” was available

Saskatoon can definitely support an NHL team, the current arena just needs some retrofits. Jets were considering a few games there.
No it can’t. It doesn’t have near the corporate support, or population. This has been discussed before. A hockey team in Saskatoon will fail because no one will travel 2-4 hours, on a Tuesday, in the winter to watch a game. Riders work so well because it’s 10 home games a year (or whatever the total - not a CFL guy).

Glad we got a more collaborative mayor that have everyone working together. Harmony, unison, love.

Governments are fantastic resources, full of smart competent people, and they should be entrusted with taking our money and spending it wisely.

Councillor Penner is not correct. You can vote in camera, it just eventually has to be voted on in open council because in camera is not binding to the corporation. Decisions surrounding negotiations for things like this are discussed and voted on in camera all the time because you cannot discuss negotiations in open council and give away information.

I have been in a few council in camera meetings. While this may not be explicitly voted on, it's still quite possible that Council all said this. It's just not technically binding when it's in camera.

Are we betting on how much worse the new deal will be for the city this time?

Sounds like they've hired CAA Icon. No sure if this is good or bad but leaving Gondek out this time would be wise.

Building this new arena is giving me flashbacks to building the ring road through Tsuu T'ina.

The disasters just blend together at this point.
