Honestly this arena is just a cherry on top of a massive pile of shit that we have received from council. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I honestly have no idea who votes for these councillors, not sure a councillor I have voted for has ever been elected.

Nope. I like my counsellor. He's voted how I would vote for the most part. I'm so in the middle on this arena deal that it won't change anything for me. He's really good with the community, and donated his 1 day with a suite for Flames last year to Kids Cancer Care. Genuinely a good guy and aligns with my values. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

I'm not sure what to think about big red. Haven't had to vote for or against her yet
I've only been to the casino there, so cannot confirm. But the number one complaint I hear about the new arena is that there isn't enough bathrooms. Was your comment facetious or honest? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Well there are way more urinals and stalls than what the Saddledome has, but I cannot say whether there are still enough. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
There were some interesting splits, don't usually see these particular voting patterns.
Of the fiscal hawks, Farkas voted no while Chu and Demong voted yes, Farkas also being the lone developer candidate to vote no.
Of the hardline urbanists you have Farrell and Woolley voting no, but Carra voting yes.
One of the more interesting ones will be who comes out on top of the 'I have higher ambition than councillor' crowd you have Davison and Gondek voting yes, Farkas and Woolley voting no.
yeah also funny because it's farkas' ward, carra wants it because its right on the border of inglewood and that's all he cares about.... not surprising from Farrell though, it wont increase her property value so its a non starter. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote

Isn't Farrell a receptionist by trade or something?
She says that she used to own a small business.

IT works rep.
Curious on the reasoning behind this, as for a few developers that I know they will simply donate to any candidate that comes and asks. Did Wooley and Chahal have zero developer contributions? This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Where are they going to move the Flames while the new stadium is built?

Part of the original deal when the Atlanta Flames moved to Calgary was an indefinite clause stating:This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
13. (1) Should the City of Calgary be unable to host home games for more than 2 consecutive weeks
(a) The City of Atlanta will be responsible to provide arena space meeting or exceeding NHL standards for as long as necessary.
(b) Should the City of Atlanta have a new NHL team, they will be responsible to accommodate the merging of the 2 teams until the City of Calgary has a suitable arena in which to resume play.
Man, they sure had some foresight to put that in the deal.
Am I missing something, wouldn't they play in the dome until the new arena was built?

^ correct, just giving @Maxx Mazda a hard time. I made the same mistake before I heard the new arena will be built north of the dome, and then the dome will be demo'd.
While they do give money to everyone, there are still the candidates the developers would favor. Davis was definitely preferred to Woolley in Ward 8 from the developer lobby. At least the local developers anyway. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
While Nenshi got a lot of money from developers, Bill Smith got way more.
Really no different than when corporations give money to two different political parties. They'll have their preference on who they want to win, but they need to hedge their bets and also give money to who they think will win as well.
