My YouTube recommendations have turned a little farther right, but this is still pretty funny.

Sounds like Murray Edwards is threatening to walk from the deal over $16M in additional costs.
It’s interesting that the city was prepared to cover $6.4M of the higher costs (40%), but wasn’t willing to cover any of the $4M in climate mitigation costs.
I really hope the deal is off, but I think it’s just the Flames owners bluffing. They already negotiated a killer deal, I doubt they would walk over such small $.

2-3 years of no revenue do you really think the Flames want to build an arena right now?
They are laughing their way to the bank that Gondek has given them an out.
Bet The city ends up footing 100% of the costs out of all this. Flames will buy it from them at the end for 50 cents on the dollar and take no risk in construction.

Not to mention flames were on the hook for cost overruns. Construction costs have gone up 40% in which flames were 100% liable for. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I dunno what the shelf life of the saddledome is, it’s already past it’s expiry date for modern concerts, but if this deal is gone, we’re in a world of hurt for entertainment in this city.

I feel like Gondek tweeted this out first ASAP to make the CSEC look like the assholes. I'd like to hear the Flames' side on this before making judgment.
I mean, what the fuck are "climate mitigation costs"? For all we know, it could be someone on city council's brilliant idea to install solar panels, plant a bunch of trees, and add bike lanes that were never part of the original plans and they're expecting the CSEC to pay for it. If that's the case, then yeah I'd tell city council to go fuck themselves. But on the other hand it could be something completely reasonable and Murray Edwards is being a cheap ass.
It's highly possible that both side feel like they have a bad deal. Hell they could both be correct.

And lmao at "climate mitigation"... Fuck off Gondek.
That's great. That's just fucking great man!
I bet calling out Mr. Edwards helped the situation.
I've heard he has virtually no ego and doesn't mind letting others tell him what he should do.

$4m for solar panels and $12m for gold plated sidewalks (that the city requests) are not cost overruns. That’s scope creep.
Flames should sue the city for moving the goalposts.
Dammit. That sounds so realistic that it will probably happen. The city seems to be so bent on building this that they probably would take it on 100%.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I still feel the lion’s share of the costs should be borne by those attending the events and those that are profiting from holding the events. Not sure why the city is so eager to throw taxpayer money at it.
without actual knowledge, i suspect climate mitigation is more like flood proofing to a higher flood elevation than the saddledome currently is, etc.. just my guess
