will it be up to the owners to provide and install engines, or will they have a list of engines availible?
Very interesting development.

Cummins engine is narrower than powerstroke AFAIK. a big gas engine might be interesting for street use, but again, may not fit.

Makes sense to equip it with Duramax/Allison combo just like the rare H1 Alpha. They still use the Optimizer 6.5 diesel in the mil spec h1's.

Ok, something is up:
GM's division of HUMMER has had some ongoing activity on their facebook page for "The Ultimate Fan" contest that came out of nowhere... and now in a posting yesterday they are teasing people with a major announcement that will be coming in about 2 weeks.
Sounds like HUMMER is being resurrected

Wow, interesting. Last time I heard good news regarding a Hummer was when that guy drove his Hummer in front of another car to save pedestrians in August.

I thought GM sold the Hummer name to some Chinese outfit? Or was that a failed attempt?
An SUV with a Duramax & Allison combo? YES PLEASE! Time to roll up in a Canyonero!

I think its very unlikely the Hummer brand is coming back anytime soon, although I would love to see it back with new models.

Word... wow I'd love to have one of those.Originally posted by Unknown303

All though if I had to supply ALL the drivetrain, for a 4wd, that would be stupidly costly, unless you could buy used components off of crashed Silverado 2500's & 3500's (on ebay lets say) and use those parts. Id be interested to see any sort of listing as to what would work VS. what wouldn't. I assume without any specific power & drive train in mind, everything would have to be customized completely to make it fit.
Either way its going to be a shit ton of cash over & above the $59k. Too bad they didn't do a joint venture with GM, that you could buy it as a complete package for (lets say) $80-85k. That to me would make the most sense.

The important question is will it fit 28" wheels?
