CarProof report question

I am looking at a certified pre-owned vehicle in Edmonton at Sherwood Honda.

It is a 2007 MDX Elite. I had the salesman provide me the CarProof report before I make the drive up but I just can't seem to make sense of it.

The report shows no service records or odometer readings since the car was new in 2007 until 2012. This should have been within the warranty period so I am skeptical why the car was never brought into the dealer for anything. In 2012 is the first odometer reading of 91,440KM.

Everything else on the carproof shows up clean.

Is this something I should be worried about?

Odometer reporting is optional so that's probably why they aren't there for the first three renewals. I don't think Car Proof would have any info on service records, all their info comes from registries/insurance and not dealerships.

Looks clean. The only thing the odometer reading is good for is identifying if it was rolled back ( ie in the past it was 150,000 km and now it says 98,000km). But as its optional to report the carproof is pretty rarely useful in that regard.

Ask the dealer to provide service records from the Acura Dealership. As mentioned CarProof just shows title information

Dealers can optionally report KMs. What may have happened was the original owner either went to a different dealership that didn't report KMs initially then changed dealers or the dealer started reporting kms.

I would ask what were the warranty issues the car had in 2012? The car was in the dealership 3 times in 2 months / 600kms so something was being replaced/troubleshooted.

Otherwise I wouldn't worry too much and as stated above you can request service records from the dealer

Thanks guys. I thought that everytime it goes it for service it would show on the carproof.

I did contact Southview Acura and they assured me that this vehicle has done all its regular maintenence there since new but they could not give me the full details unless I was the current owner.


Anything you guys know of that I should look out for on these vehicles?

I love how everyone here bitches constantly about dealership service, then only want to buy cars that have only been dealership serviced.

Dealership service sucks. The owner just got their vehicle serviced elsewhere.
