Default Need a part 3d printed or machined from plastic. Who can help me out?

I have an obsolete mini part that I need made. Can anyone on here either 3d print it or machine it from plastic for me?

It would be a one off with potential to make a minimum of a 100 as they are in demand but no one makes them anymore.

I have a 3d model of it done in solid works 2007 already.

    Thanks.

i believe UofC has a rental 3D printer. Might have to give a student 5 bucks to let you use their account

At my university we had a few floating around. At minimum a senior engg student should be able to smoke and mirrors it into the professional printer lineup.

Could also be fabricated from a chunk of plastic like you said.

Does the part need to be strong? Based on the fact that yours is broken i would say so.

3D printer stock haspretty minimal strength properties...

I wish I could help but mine doesn't show up until the new year. And depending on the filament you use there is decent strength in the parts.

Right but i doubt he will be affording good stock if he doesnt own a printer.

We used some high strength stuff in a 80 k printer in school I still managed to break half of the parts removing the webbing... and that was at 150 dollars a 6 inch part material cost only!

If you can wait for it. Upload your deisgn to Shapeways and get it printed there.

They can 3D stainless steel if you need strength. although its not cheap at $5.00 per cm3
OR their Strong, Flexible material is only $0.28/material cm3

    What is the part?

I'd cnc it... not so much because of lack of strength (abs at 100% fill is basically the same as lego) but cause desktop printers are still not the most accurate things and high chance of warping... if you insist of 3-D printing i could do it for you if you could export that solidworks file to .stl but i cannot make you 100 pieces

We've got a Stratasys FDM printer at work. PM me details if still looking at 3D printed route.

3D print a blank for a mold (ie 10pcs) out of a water soluble material (google lost wax method) then cast in silicone, then cast in abs, nylon or epoxy) Then you can make as many as you need.

or do a proper 2pc mold itself (relatively easy to do in solidworks I understand) so you can do reuseable.

3D printed parts depending on application - not so structural...

It is the turn signal cancel cam for an Austin mini. The only reason it broke was the my steering wheel hub was seized on so a little brute force was used and the cam broke on the process. CNC would be the preferred method.

Legend boy I have sent you a PM.

Didn't want to make a new thread, but I need to find someone that would be able to 3D print these for me.

You've been to protospace, they have a 3d printer for members use now... Spend the 50$ on membership, I've got a partial roll of blue if you need it...

fuck, no kidding! I wish this hobby was cheaper. I would love to get a set of predator tracks, but I just don't think I would use them enough to justify spending $300 for a set from RC4WD.

As for protospace, I could do that, but I got NFC how to use a 3d printer, hell, I have never even been in the same room as one before.

They do give training on tools they don't just throw you the keys to a several thousand dollar machine - and let you burn the place down learning...
