    Default Methane and global warming.

I'm yappy today. Even more so than usual.

I haven't bothered to research it to any significant degree, but I'm not sure why this gas isn't more prevalent in the media than Carbon Dioxide.

A graph may be produced which shows Carbon Dioxide emissions in relation to global warming, but what of "shelf life" and efficiency?

The series "Cosmos" got me thinking about Methane, and it's known to be far more detrimental than CD.

It seems that Methane isn't of great concern, but should be.

    Comments?

Simple, carbon Dioxide comes from successful industries and machines, whereas Methane comes from cute cows, scenic swamps and the bermuda triangle.

The sites I checked out claimed that Methane is about 25% more potent than co2, and this site claims that it's 84% more potent in the short term.

Methane isn't the primary byproduct of our industrialized society. C02 is, hence why it remains the primary focus.

Actually melting of arctic ice thereby releasing methane is a massive concern

No one is denying that. However, the billions of fossil-fuel powered vehicles, engines, equipment, etc. that are out there expel C02, not methane, and is much more directly within our ability to influence.

I'm not denying that. But there seemed to be confusion about "potency" which is higher with methane but not overall as influential as the shear volume of CO2 right now. Unless I'm still asleep and no one was thinking that haha
