Default Should this business honor online posted price?

While looking on car-part.com for a fuse box for my Accord, a Allen & Sons auto recyclers has the part listed for $80. On their inventory lookup they also have it listed as $80. When I called them to buy the fuse box, they claim there was a mistake with the price and it is $140. If you were the business, would you feel obligated to honor the online posted price of $80?

Yes but being that its a junk yard/auto recycler, they could care less if you made a big fuss about it.

But if this was like FutureShop/Home Depot or etc, they would actually honor it to save face.

Well imagine if instead of writing that letter to the editor, she just posts on a car forum for car enthusiasts. That's Kritafo.

Exactly what are you going to do lawyer up, drag it through the courts, report the business over 60 bucks?

Just take your business elsewhere over poor business practices and let them know it.

    Oh ya. Exactly that.

I fear cause I can't access my restaurant's FTP and I'm going to update menus with pricing for 2015. Might get threatened like this guy.

This is interesting cause just yesterday I was on Henry Singer website doing some shopping and noticed their terms. It states that if there is a typo and the item ordered is listed for less than what it actually is they will simply cancel the order and notify you. No honoring it or anything of that sort.

I remember last boxing day, The Brick's website had some kind of glitch where most items were sold at an additional 50% off more than they were supposed to. The Brick didn't honor the prices and instead offered the people a 10% off coupon for their next purchase. There were tons of pissed off facebook comments for weeks after about this. Pretty sure there was a beyond thread about it to.

It's pretty obvious to most people in this case who's the asshole.

Slightly related, I bought an item from future shop last month. It had an expired price tag on that I didn't know at the time and it was cheaper than what it should be. The guy honoured the price.

I think for online purchase the merchant has an advantage to correct the price. They can just say out of stock, what are you going to do? If they are stupid enough to accept the payment however, hand over the product.

lol a hilarious read. I am in a small town with only 2 chinese food places. The better of the two raised their prices about a year ago. But they still give out the old takeout menus with the lower prices, I assume because it would cost money to have new ones printed. Also they advertise a 10% pickup cash discount but I have never received it once. I don't complain though because its a small amount of money and I don't want to get banned from ordering from there.
