Felt injured last week so took tues/we’d off, then got crushed by either a flu or food poisoning on Thursday that kept me off eating anything substantial till about Monday..down 6 lbs from that, hoping to get back on the bike tomorrow.. hoping I didn’t drop wattage but kinda expecting it.

I would take it easy for the first couple of rides. But you'll probably recover any lost watts (if any) quickly.

They say 1 week off the bike you probably haven't lost much if any. If anything you may have even gained from the extra rest, but since yours is due to sickness and energy is low, it's like ZeroGravity says, you'll recover quickly.

Logged in last night around 9:40 or so and saw it needs an update. Got thrown into the London course. So I logged out at 10 and logged back in... Watopia! Yup, went up Alpe Du Zwift... also surprise at the top

Back on the zwift wagon..though today is nice. Good to see they've updated their training plans pretty significantly, so have started the 'Build Me Up' plan yesterday..

Ok who is on a training program? Unfortunately their system does not allow you to 'pause' a workout program when you go on vacation, so i had to restart the Build Me Up, and not loving it... Going to try the TT Tune Up next

I finished the Build Me Up plan a couple of months ago. Now I'm on the Gravel Grinding plan. Picked this mainly based on the time per week in their description.

How did you feel after the Build Me Up? I may have to re-do my FTP test as I was feeling a bit outgunned by it.. could be from switching from the TacX to Elite and keeping FTP the same though

There were some tougher sessions in the Build Me Up plan. But with the rests they put in between intervals, it was alright. Towards the tail end of that plan, I enrolled in the Zwift Academy. So I had to do some group workouts in between the Build Me Up days (where it locks you out). I didn't redo my FTP after the build me up plan, but my FTP was updated after one of the Academy race. Looking at my Strava power graph, my estimated FTP definitely became lower when I switched from Tacx Vortex to a Tacx Neo.

Done the FTP Builder. Felt stronger doing the last Fondo, shaved off a couple minutes (and was hungover). So going to start another one till christmas, but havent decided which one yet. Stupid that there isn't a holiday pause option

Getting a little tired of my wheel-on trainer..feels like im pedaling in mud until im 30 minutes in and the tire finally warms up, also sapping me a bit for way less then FTP lately so curious if im being robbed of power on it.. Contemplating a direct drive, but maybe it's all in my head. Has anyone tried one, then moved to the other and can comment on the difference?

    Thoughts?

I went from a Cycleops Fluid Pro w/power meter to a Kickr a couple years ago and love it. The consistency, lack of noise, and not having to buy trainer tires/use old tires makes it worth it to me imo.
Been using it since 2016 with no issues.

I upgraded from Tacx Vortex Smart (after using for 2 years) to Tacx Neo in 2017. Vortex was reading high compared to my power meter. Not having to deal with tire slip (despite being a weakling and pretty light weight) and calibration is nice.

I was going to get a Kickr core.. but our move in to our new home came earlier than expected so now, I am still on my regular trainer. I for sure think direct drive smart trainers are the way to go as they do measure more accurately. I’m a member of the Bowcyclist so it’s nice they give some discounts for their members. I will try to get one this year’s fall. If you’re thinking to get one I can ask for pricing and get one for you

I know it unfortunately doesn't help your immediate situation but if you can plug along until the snow melts, trainers do tend to go onsale. Conversely, I got a great price on a demo Neo from Cycle Path by Royal Oak.

I got the new kickr (non core) and I've been really happy with it so far.
