I’m usually not bad... like riding a normal bike I can average 25km/h all the way into the core and not need a shower... but so far with zwift... holy crap! I don’t think I have ever sweat so much. Think it’s just figuring out the fans though.

i would say that indoor is definitely more demanding on power (and therefore sweat generation) then outdoors. I def can put out better numbers outside, because you're naturally cooled off.
Same - I made the mistake of trying to do Zwift workouts with my outside FTP and failed miserably. Same bike with crank based power meter and I find I need to drop about 15-20 watts on the FTP slider.
Ha exact number drop for me based on pedal power FTP vs zwift ftp. That being said my form is also not great compared to peak outdoor season
What's everyone using for a direct drive trainer? Any feedback on the Elite trainers?
I’m using the elite Direto, as it was a good deal at MEC when purchased. I’m a fan. Definitely feels more like riding a bike versus pedalling in mud. I’d suggest MEC just for ease of returns if something goes wrong, my three wheel on trainers broke, this one has been very solid.
I was looking at the Direto X as it's well reviewed. I get a discount through Bow Cycle so the Kickr Core would be significantly cheaper to me, though. Looks like the Core was plagued with some issues about a year ago, lacking proper ESD protection and failing. Also read up on the Elite Suito as a more budget option (even includes a front wheel block and 11spd cassette) but there are reports of those having knocking sounds from as recent as November....
Neo off the table?
Ultracrepidarian
I think the Neo is above what I want to spend, to be honest.
Edit: turns out I can probably get the Direto X through Bow Cycle...

Direto X seems like a solid investment
Might be getting rid of my Neo if you're interestedThis quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
How many doll hairs?
No experience / comment on Elite trainers.
The Neo 1 I have has been solid. Lots of virtual miles, no issues. Although, I'm not really stressing the Neo either due to my lack of power
If you’re still debating, I’ve got the Kickr and Inside Ride E-motion setup and it is pretty great. Been using the Kickr for probably 3 years now and was a pretty big fan of it compared to my old dumb trainer. Got the E-motion a few months back and can’t imagine going back to a standard Kickr setup again.
Borrowed a friend’s Neo for a few weeks and the bit of motion it allows side to side was very nice compared to standard Kickr setup, but I personally preferred the feel of the Kickr flywheel in ERG mode vs the Neo. With the E-motion setup, it makes indoor training even easier to stomach, and this is coming from someone who does 90% of my riding indoors. No more under carriage issues from being bolted down in one position, cleaner pedal stroke from the bit of back and forth motion, I’m a big fan. Totally worth it if you’re considering it.
Nice! It’s still on the list for sure, should probably do it before I blow through my spending account on practical crap
Annnddd it’s still sold out... just to clarify you mean the e-flex right? E-motion is the rollers?
Yea sorry e-flex with Kickr. Hard to ride the Kickr on top of rollers unless you’ve got some mad skills
If you just email them you can get in their wait list and they’ll email you when they have one available. That’s how I got mine and it’s been under “sold out” status the entire time.
i'm thinking about putting up my tacx neo up for sale if anyone is interested. used for 2.5 off seasons (bought jan 2017 - have receipt). works beautifully, no issues.
the wifey got the peloton and has threatened me at gunpoint to join her... she just never really took to the turbo trainer/Zwift experience despite all my encouraging attempts. bit of a bummer but the peloton is actually a good product with all the classes etc; if my goal is to maintain fitness in the off season then this fits the bill. plus, it's something we can do together, which is always nice.
yo let me know how much! May be I'll upgrade from my 1st gen kickr.

Also, ordered the Elite Direto X. It arrived and I'm hoping to set it up on Friday.
On the list, they’re at a 3 week backlog right now! This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
