A bunch of guys in spandex running up muddy hills in clipless pedals carrying a drop bar bike?

    You have to ask?

I'm on the other side of that argument as the guy in spandex (lycra) carrying a drop bar bike running and riding through mud. It's really good fun (to me), so I really enjoy watching the races.

So I had contacted Wahoo about my kickr, since it seemed to be displaying the keyway grind issue that was common. I could still ride it, though.

But when I got on today, it connected, but then would not output any watts. Googling says that the board got nuked by static, which is ALSO a common issue with the kickr. I'm going to head over the MEC tomorrow and return the damn thing (After two years, lel). I don't want wahoo to send me a new one anymore. I'm going to try to track down the Tacx instead.

I think they are owned by Garmin now, which also provides some benefit, I think

I had a first kickr and now I have a first Neo, neither have given me problem. I've had issues with other Wahoo and Garmin products. I don't have any preference between the two brands from my experience.

I can totally understand from your experience. Hopefully MEC will take care of you and get you a new smart trainer. They may be hot items to get still because of the global pandemic.

There is definite weight cheating. Did a race last year where a guy did 3 laps in the time it took everyone else to do 1.. His weight after was like 12 kg..

Also watch for the lightning bolt next to people's names on the right hand side. If they don't have one that means they're on estimated power (called ZPower, which is used for dumb trainers with speed and cadence sensors and no actual power measurement). As already mentioned - lots of weight doping too. I did have a really weird one the other day with two people flying up a big climb at 40km/h (for reference I was doing 12-15) but their w/kg was only 2.5. Didn't make any sense.

Whilst not Zwift related, I recently got the VZFit Cycling game for my quest and combined with my spin bike its pretty good for casual riding, I am not into hardcore indoor cycling but its better than using the spin bike and watching tv i think. The game uses google street view to immerse you in the world while you are cycling. So far done about 60Km, through a park in california, in france, and in new zealand. The game syncs with a cadence or speed sensor - I am using my wahoo cadence seems to work well.

VZFit is pretty neat looking - this is the first I'd heard of it. I always wondered what zwift in VR would be like.

Probably very sweaty in and around the face area

I guess there are some performance headsets though?? I’m excited for it to “get there” as I’ve basically future proofed the setup for this... with steering and the climb though, VR might require a puke bucket for the motion sickness

No way VR works for a zwift setup.

I'm thinking a carbon fiber Daft Punk helmet with built-in air conditioning. So super straightforward.
