Default DSLR or Mirrorless camera, for travel?

    Hey everyone,

Okay so I am going to be travelling next week and I really would like to take great pictures.

I have a Nikon D7000 and a Mirrorless Sony A6000 (impulse buy on boxing day). I like the compact size of the a6000 but the D7000 has always been the best, in terms of picture quality.

What would you suggest, for travelling?

Note: I haven't used the a6000 enough to determine if its picture quality is comparable to the d7000. Online reviews say it's supposed to be really good but haven't had time to test it myself.

    Thanks for your input!

For car shows, I take the DSLR. Need the extra performance (low light, shot speed) to capture the events.

For vacations, mirrorless everytime. I'll take way more pictures throwing the mirrorless in the gf's purse. The image quality difference is negligible.

Agreed. With kit lenses on both the A6000 should give better image quality as well.

DSLR for car shows or if I am planning on shooting things where is need selective focus and bokeh.

    iPhone 6+ for everything else.

I only really like canon, but their mirror less cameras are shit. Waiting till they get better. Haha

That's a decent option too. Last family trip we decided to pack light since we were in Europe, and decided to use our phones to shoot everything. Pics were a bit meh (lack of zoom was the killer), so I decided to shoot video clips instead and compiled them into family vacation music videos. Was a huge hit with everyone, ended up with next to no pictures of the vacation though.

Still haven't decided if next trip it'll be camera, or phone only.

We have a Panasonic GF3 with the 14-42 compact lens.

Only possible issue is it has no shoe for external flash, but I believe the GF series have it.

    Thanks gents,

I guess I will just go with the a6000.

I really don't want to pack something too heavy, or get robbed for looking like a tourist lol
