Are there legal issues regarding this? What's stopping me from buying prime land with downtown views and just parking a baller RV?

All the ones shown on HGTV look way better and far more functional.

werd. I feel claustrophobic in 800 sq ft condos sometimes.
Not my cup of tea but whatever floats your boat. If he's renting the land, why the hell would he bother building a "house" for $20,000? He could get a much nicer trailer for considerably less.

Just me, I could hack living like that, no issues at all.
But I like having Baygirl around, so certain considerations need to be taken into account.

I've always thought that the nomad homes/ business were pretty cool. Get a small property out in the middle of no where and plop down one of those, I think it would be a great little get away.

Omfg, I love small homes! I did a paper on the as school a few years back. I find I don't need much living space but I do need a fair chunk of well organized storage space. I would be happy with one or 2 shipping container for living and one for me stuff.

those are neat for sure but again, you can get a pretty sick trailer for the price haha..Originally posted by jdmXSI

but then again this would kinda feel like a house/cabin and are pretty cool haha.. I'd rather just build my own though
I read about this and the small home movement. It's interesting and I agree that some components will be the future of efficiency but that small of space is just not sustainable long term IMO.
I would much rather move to somewhere warm and build a badass treehouse. See here #14:

I agree, I've seem much nicer tiny homes on HGTV that were apparently made for the same budget but kudos to him I guess for the commitment. I couldn't see myself doing this in Calgary but by the coast or somewhere without ball sack winter I could get into ~3-500sq ft.

This guy's place is very cool

Nothing new really, ive looked into it and still think to just buy a trailer is better, this guys trailer looks like shit and a waste of money. I was surprised to hear he had a g.f .... then I saw the pic of her LOL... if I did this I be putting stucco on it and bay windows hahaha
Only in California, you would freeze to death in that here.
Cocoa $11,000 per tonne.
While I agree with the design aspects you don't have to be a douche and rag on his personal life.Originally posted by egmilano

I would have bought a tiny home blueprint and follow someone else's design. 120 is definitely too small though.
I could, I only sit usually in one room of my house anyway, the rest is filled with junk and things that I think I need that I never use. I don't have friends that come over, I don't host parties and I pretty much hate anything "fun".
That being said if that cost him $20,000 to build and furnish he got ripped off, I could have a tiny mansion for $20,000.
Since it is on wheels you never have to pay property tax as a dwelling.
My biggest concern is having fast internet to my tiny mansion

Ya, I built some crazy ass shit with Lego as a kid. I had a thing for AMC Eagle AWD's as a kid for some bizarre reason, so I spent a lot of time going to the library and reading up on how AWD works in that car. I even hitchhiked to the library once cuz my parents were too lazy to drive me haha. Ya, I'm a nerd.
Could I? Yes. Would I? Hell no.Originally posted by tpurcell4
Could you live in just 120 square feet?
While I'm wholly against 4000sq.ft 3-bedroom McMansions, 120 is way to small.
I'm pretty comfortably in our 1100sq.ft bungelow. I don't need the basement, and hardly use it, but it's nice it's there. The only reason I would want more footprint on ours would be for a master bedroom ensuite, so I think Sugarphreak's 1400sq.ft number is pretty bang on.
Last year the missus and I were actively looking for land to rent by a lake because she is absolutely fascinated by "Tiny Houses". I have to admit the idea of a tiny cabin that you have the option to move is pretty neat. We went as far as compiling ideas from all of the forums/ you tube videos/ websites that we researched to get an idea for what she wants.
Thankfully I got her distracted with a fancy new vitamix before she got to heavily attached to the idea.
That is pretty cool! I could definitely live in that thing if it was just me and the dog.Originally posted by jdmXSI

Even as a teenager, my goal was to get a small piece of land and plop a trailer or straw bale house on it. Something happened though. It might have been life. Plus, my bandwidth would cost me about $5000.00 a month.
Love how he says that tiny houses can help relive pressure on the market, but forgets to mention allowing this in the city would quickly make any community they are allowed in look like a slum.
