    Default Anyone work at KIA?

    Hey guys,

Borrowed my friends car for a day, and ended up losing his car key and the fob. Anyone work at KIA and can give me a non-rape price on a new key/fob and the programming?

Also, I can buy the remote and key online if need be and if anyone can help program that would be great too.

kia protect only lasts one year. So he would be out of luck with that.

Stupid expensive. $200 for the fob, heard $100 for the key, plus programming. I can get the fob and the key blank online for about $50 it seems and have the dealer program for however much it costs.

If he has a spare, you might be able to buy a blank, have it cut, and reprogram it yourself. I did that with one if my cars in the past

Anyone know if Kia has immobilizer in Canada? I read online that NA didn't have them for Kia but really didn't look much into it. If i can get a blank and just get it cut that would be the easiest. He says he isn't concerned about the second fob.

My 2012 hyundai has an immobilizer and most of the Kia vehicles share many components so I wouldn't be surprised if it has an immobilizer. On a hyundai you check by turning on the key to the ACC position and checking for a solid key light to indicate it read the transponder.
