Why are you out $900? If a shop is charging you $900 to remove rotary haze then you're getting ripped off. This should be $300-$400 TOPS.

Anywhere that doesn't charge $180/hr lol. This would take 5 hours tops.
They did not fix the swirls so it needs a full correction 7-12 hours
Agreed it needs correction. But the correction it needs is not 12 hours. If it need to be compounded and polished, then yes, 12 hours minimum, but from the pictures, it looks like its just needing the fine haze polished out with just requires a very non-aggressive foam pad (white or even black possibly) and some finishing polish, followed by some sealant. This process shouldn't take any detailer longer than 5-6 hours to complete (again, unless wetsanding is needed). Good luck regardless, hope you get it sorted properly! Nice X5 btw

I am certain that it needs to be compounded to get rid of the original scratches from their washing technique at the dealer
X5 also has bigger panels it actually takes longer I would say 1 hour per panel on cut, Polish, and finish
On top of that there is decontamination and application of sealant or nano coating
Another factor is this is Black Sapphire Metallic it needs more work to get the paint work perfect like it used to
As others have already mentioned, I'd suggest contacting Carlos Baca of Detailing Bliss.
Here are 3 pages of his past work (each write up extremely detained with plenty of pics to reference). His name comes up quite often on other car forums as well.

I'll be bringing my newly acquired summer car to him when I take it out of storage. His prices appear very reasonable...$500 for a 3-stage polish and $350 for Opti-Coat.

I want to state that Jed from Mobile Reflections ACTUALLY SEEN THE X5 IN PERSON and he gave me the estimate of 7-12 hours, based on the condition of the vehicle
So, the 5-6 hours estimate is an assumption, you have to consider this is Black Sapphire Metallic and bigger surface area than a regular vehicle
7-12 Hours
1. decontamination (wash, clay, ironx, etc..._)
2. taping and prep
3. Cut Stage
4. Polish Stage
5. Inspection
6. Nano-coat
Assuming he's putting on EXO v2 and C1... if so you are going to love the coating and the near hassle free washing.Originally posted by jaylo
