    Default Changing property tax address?

Im trying to get my property tax for one house sent to another, and in typical government fashion its turned into a massive fuck around.

I called land titles and they got me the form to fill out, but on that form it says it need to create a "DDR" on "spin.gov.ca" for who knows what reason. The lady at land titles mentioned no such thing, and half of the information on the DDR form I have no idea what they're talking about.

Does anyone have experience changing this? Or would I be better off just hoping my tenants dont throw out my property tax bill (Not on tipps- I pay in a lump sum).

Typical city. turns a mole into a mountain.

That is just to change it through the city. You still need to change it through land titles. Which brings me right back to the DDR that I dont know about.

If you just need your property tax bill change it with the city as suggested. I changed nothing with land titles and I still get my assessment and bill at my new address.

That's all I want, just to make sure I get the bill on time at new address. Wonder why 311 told me I had to change it on the actual title of the land.

Even on that link it says you still need to call land titles.

    Thanks

Interesting I just read the link now. Maybe I should update this with land titles. But last year I did just call the city saying that I moved from my primary residence and it is now a rental. They updated the address over the phone and I received the assessment the next week at my new primary address.

Maybe I'll call tomorrow to verify. The ddr report you need to fill out is a joke. Might just check the mail at the rental everyday after may 23.

    +1

Although, my experience is in Airdrie but I just called the 'property tax department' and told them my new address over the phone. Been getting my tax documents to the new address for the last 4 years now.

What you're referring to is called a DRR and you can fill it out at the land titles desk when you take your address change form in.

Spoke with them again today. Even though the form says i have to do a ddr the lady said not to worry about it, they will do it when I send it in via mail. Without a doubt though it must be submitted to land titles to change address.

I had to do this last year and it was a total cluster fuck

Their whole online login crap is confusing as hell. And I had to mail something back to them signed and filled out, first thing I've actually snail mailed in probably 10+ years haha.

Feels like old times having to mail stuff in. Did you actually fill the drr online?

You could also ask the tenants to be on the lookout for mail with your name on it as well.

I am sure most non-dead beat tenants would have no issue setting aside a piece of mail that has the landlords name on it.
