Ya I'd rather pay every year or every other year for a full detail. I was tempted to get it but changed my mind last minute.

I continued the chat on film and coating here, as I didn't want to derail the RS thread:
    http://forums.beyond.ca/showthread.p...0&pagenumber=2

I think it's useful to talk about because it's a topic that isn't really discussed, especially the coating part. I mean even for film, I could barely get an answer on the 3M Pro vs. XPEL Ultimate other than people preferring XPEL Ultimate over 3M Pro because it hasn't been on the market long enough.

All I know is this is all going to be pretty expensive for just a Focus
If you are going to do Xpel and Opti-Coat make sure you have the film put on first as the film won't adhere as well to Opti-Coated paint.

IMO Opti-Coat is the single greatest paint protection product I've ever seen or used. It's not a miracle product that repels road grime or rail dust. I still have to Iron X and 2-bucket wash in the spring but that's it. Never have to wax or detail and the hydrophobic properties are unmatched. The key to a good coating is the prep so if it's not a brand new car the paint needs to be stripped down to ensure proper bonding. It took me two days to properly prep my STI for it but all of my cars since have been done new.

Single greatest until you have used Gtechniq EXO

But seriously, any long term coating is a great idea. But be sure to be washing your car properly or you will be swirled in a few months. Two bucket washing with good quality towels (costco yellow towels work great). The hydrophobic is worth the money and the car will stay cleaner.

The costco towels are good value but if you want the best towels try http://www.theragcompany.com/

I use the Costco towels only for detailing the interior, engine bay, etc as I can throw them away when they get totally soiled but for paint I use better quality microfiber towels like Cobra, etc.

Yeah these are definitely a step up from the Costco towels but I still prefer the ones from the rag company.

I find the other websites are pretty vague about the polyamide/polyester blends and the country of origin. Lots of manufacturers will use Korean microfiber but are made in China. I have both Korean and Chinese towels and the Korean towels are noticeably better, even with the same poly blends and similar GSM's. Mind you the Korean towels are about 2x the price so you get what you pay for.

I'm probably the pickiest person you'll ever meet in terms of towels though so this might not be an issue for your average car enthusiast.

Can't agree more! Once you tried premium quality MFs there's no turning back. I absolutely love my Cookie Monster towels!

It does look very close to the Nardo Grey. I'm assuming that your car is getting PP film before delivery then since the sticker and plastic is still on.

I was getting it tinted out. It just got dropped off from transport, still has all the delivery stickers and plastic inside, and shipping blocks in the suspension. I'll be wrapping the whole thing myself this coming week

Haha that is your car then. Nice! I like the colour. Classy and it doesn't scream like the blue. I pointed out to my coworkers and they didn't have a clue why the car is special lol.

I heard they had my twin from Woodridge there as well for PPF so who knows which one you actually saw haha but apparently they were identical, stickers and all! Thanks though either way, I'm excited to finally get to put some miles on it, it's been a long 10 months waiting. I briefly had it out on the street and from what I can tell it'll be a lot of fun!
