I'm interested in seeing how close it is to the Audi RS grey.

I've never seen the car or colour in person yet. Should be a fun day haha

Great colour! It does look very similar to Nardo grey. This your new daily? Hope to see you around!

Sure is. Can't wait to track it! Looking at getting a third set of wheels/tires so I'm not driving the Sport Cup2 daily. Seems like a waste.

I paid MSRP. 48 plus tax. I'm debating using the Xpel matte film and matteing the whole thing. Not sure yet. I did it to my previous car and loved it but I want to see this colour in person first haha

Where are you getting yours wrapped or are you doing it yourself? Wasn't sure what you're doing lately for work haha.

I'll be doing a full Xpel wrap, but I want to get a proper decontamination and polish before the wrap is applied. Not sure who to go with.

Yes I do that all myself. I run the PPF department for a group of dealers. I'm more than willing and able to help you out with that when the time comes!!

I saw my first Focus RS on HWY 1 west of the city. Loved the huge Brembos. Overall, looked nice. Wish the taillights were more exciting, with LEDs or something. PS - as per the name - it's a still a Ford Focus no matter what, if you can't handle that it's a 50k Focus then don't buy one

Cool! I'm interested to see how the wrap goes for you, if there were any trouble spots, etc.

Used him when he was still mobile, cool that he has a shop now. Never thought of using Jed for XPEL application actually! Thanks.

Are you also considering ceramic-coating over the XPEL/PPF?

    Congrats on the ETA!!

Saw a blue one in kensington the other day. It's pretty loud to be able to hear the exhaust from more than a block away.

Yep... I'm debating between Opti-Coat or CQuartz (I know they're 2 different things), but I have no idea what I want to go with and how it is applied. I know the common sense way would be Xpel and then coating on top, but then I read some people put the coating under the Xpel, as well as over? Weird. Gotta do more research I guess.

All I know is this is all going to be pretty expensive for just a Focus

I'm trying Thompsons graphics for my golf r. They are right by the Porsche dealer. I've been there twice and have seen a Ford gt and new 911 gt3 rs in the shop.

My car goes in next friday. I'll try and post how it went.

Is opti coat or c quartz worth it?? I've never done it before just not sure it's value.

I did the Opticoat Pro (non-plus) and I don't think I'd do it again. I still get little brown spots, I still have to hand wash and I still get paint marring. All within the first year.

Maybe I'm missing the point of the stuff, but it felt like it provided no benefit at all. I'd rather just save the money and get the car detailed every year like a real baller.

Think of it as long-term aesthetic investment

From my experience, Opti-Coat is more durable but less gloss compared to CQuartz Finest, and vice-versa.

Also from what I hear, some shops will not honour warranty for the installation because the coating will interfere with the bonding between the paint and film itself.

This. It does nothing. And that should be obviously apparent when applied on top of a self healing film such as Xpel ultimate... Which has gotta be the silliest thing I've ever heard lol

*i should clarify. It's not that the does nothing. It's a paint sealant that's non permanent. It won't prevent contaminants from bonding to the clear coat. It won't mean you don't need to wash the car like you otherwise would have to. And it doesn't add an extra layer of clear. Applying it to the top of a self healing clear coated film will provide no extra benefit. Same as any other sealant, it will interfere with the bond of the adhesive and the clear coat if freshly applied before the film. I easily remove the coating before every install in order for the film to adhere properly.
