    Default Compustar question

I recently bought car with compustar stuff in it.
However only thing was missing was remote.
    The previous owner lost remote.
My question is I found a remote from eBay(seller from states) and
Much cheaper than local store or from kijiji. Can I still use one from states?
Someone told me it might not work because the radio frequency is different between states and Canada. Is it true?
And other question is, the one that I have I one way. But I would like to use 2 way. Is there anything that I need to change other than remote and antenna?

    Thank you

Different Compustar units use different frequencies and require different remotes. You need to post the model numbers.

Yes. There is a process for programming the remote to the system.

I believe its key on ignition and key off five times and the "brain"will start clicking, take the key out and press unlock

I think it is but didn't want to state incorrectly. I'm pretty sure this specifically:

    - foot on brake
    - key in ignition
    - foot off brake
    - ignition on and then off 5 times
    - on the fifth time, leave the ignition in on, don't turn it off
    - press button 1 on all remotes to be programmed sequentially

I know this is a little late to the party, but NO, you can not program any Compustar 2 way remote to that system. There are a couple of reasons for this. First and most important is that the antenna in the car is not two way capable. Although you may get one set, the feedback functionality will not work. Second is the series of module (5200) is only capable of accepting certain series of remote/antenna combinations. If you want a two way without replacing the whole deal look for a 8 or 9000 series remote and matching 2WFM antenna. GL

Bumping an old thread, bought an RSX yesterday and I can see it has the compustar antenna installed up behind the rear view mirror. I have zero knowledge on these systems, how can I tell if it's actually a complete system still installed? Also, the owner didn't have a remote for it so how would I be able to find out which remote I'd need? As of right now I'm using the key to lock and unlock it.
