Default Zoomer Wireless - Runs off Rogers network

Hey, just thought I would mention to my fellow beyonders. I just signed up for Zoomer Wireless last week on a 2 year contract. It runs off the rogers network and has LTE as well. I thought this was a great deal, saw this on redflagdeals. LTE speed is great, and I'm having no issues with call droppings or quality. Porting my number over from Fido was easy

I'm paying $36/month for 400 canadawide minutes, 1gb data, unlimited after 6pm, unlimited txt, VM, CD. They have a promo right now that gives you double the minutes and data, and the bonus never expires even after your 2 year contract is up. (I'm not sure when the promo expires, it's either end of this month or end of Feb)

They also have a referral program. You get a $25 credit and the person who referred you gets $25 as well.

    http://forums.redflagdeals.com/cityp...-plan-1554357/

    http://www.zoomerwireless.ca/rate-pl...ckberry-plans/

If you want me to refer you, PM me and I'll give you my account number and name Just mention that when you sign up for their service.

Yup good luck trying to find another plan with similar coverage (i.e. Wind and Mobilicity) at this price for what you get.

Exactly what OP said. If you've got something, please do share. I'll likely sign up with them in Feb when my Telus contract runs out.

looks great, this is part of the reason the market in the US is a little more reasonable, the big carriers are forced to sell wholesale to the little guys so they don't have to duplicate infrastructure, so the sub brands can operate with less overhead and massive expenses.

Hopefully it leads to more of these and better competition.

So rogers is subletting their network........wont that affect current rogers customers? Or take away from potential increases to coverage areas? I am very newb to the wireless world so forgive me if my question is stupid

So looks like they automatically enroll you in old persons club (CARP?) LOL. Other than that, I can't really figure out what the catch is. My Telus contract runs out at the end of Feb so it looks like Zoomer might be the ticket.

    Current Telus:

    200 anytime + 30 Canada LD
    CID/VM
    Unlimited evenings/weekend @ 6
    150MB (don't laugh LOL)

    $35 X 2 = $70 (wife is on the same plan)

    Zoomer (with 2 year contract)

    400 Canada Wide shared
    CID/VM
    Unlimited evenings/weekend @ 6
    400MB shared

    $55

Basically same plan but $15 less a month

Anyone else using it? Would love to hear feedback. Also the Canada Wide minutes - does this mean from any point in the country or just your local calling area? For example if I am in Edmonton, do I have to pay extra LD charges since it is not my home base?

    Wtf is CARP?

Anyways, anyone know how this works in terms of 2 year contract?

It says "**2 year service terms receive bonus of double your minutes, texts and data, on applicable plans" Does it mean that after 2 years when you go back to month to month...it will be back to half the minutes, or will it maintain the double bonus?

If it's only good for 2 years that sucks. Thinking of switching from Wind...Wind is pretty terrible on reception.

LOL, CARP is a weird bonus. Doesn't cost anything, but it's like a coupon/discount flyer. I haven't really looked it over yet, and I don't have anything yet that says I've been enrolled in CARP.

Their web interface is pretty basic, but it shows minutes/data used. One thing is if you go over your allowed minutes that fees are high at $0.35/minute. Data isn't too bad if you go over at $0.02 per MB.

After a week of use, I'm happy with the switch. No dropped calls (used around 30 minutes), 300MB of data used, no issues with speed. It says CITYFONE instead of ROGERS on my phone, but other than that I haven't noticed any difference. (Zoomer wireless is a branch of cityfone I believe).

I got the Galaxy Core LTE for signing up on a 2 year term, gonna try to sell that on kijiji since I already have an unlocked phone. There are other options as well.

I asked the salesguy on the phone if the promo expires after 2 years, and he said it won't. Other than his verbal assurance, I don't see any other clause saying the promo will expire after 2 years.

So do they have a branch anywhere, or does one deal with them over the phone strictly?

There's a loophole to get this plan in Alberta. Also it's $49.50 with BYOD discount.
