Most of us have or will be affected in one way or another during the current downturn. I'll likely postpone a car purchase. Build up some additional savings when I can.

Something I should have done was set up a US account when the CAD was close to parity with US. Trips to the US will cost a lot more now.

What are you doing to weather this unstable financial situation?

Delay house purchase a bit, cut back on purchasing "wants", delay planned trips to the US.

Sell items like car parts that I don't need via eBay or through US based forums that I frequent.

It's a good time to sell things to US folks. In fact, I made it a point to sell things in USD.

That, and saving in general. Postponing vacations, etc.

I work in IT and not in oil and gas. We are very busy. So I am not worried about job security at the moment.

Buying a larger trailer for camping in case I get laid off and I am unemployed this summer.

Looking at buying a bigger house, but probably only if house prices actually do end up dropping.

Maybe a good opportunity to purchase a house. Or at least low ball.

That's the plan. Wait until things get bloody in Q3 and put in some lowballs. With low rates and sliding market, hopefully I can catch some of the next upkick.

Nothing. Stimulating the economy. Heading to LA tomorrow.

I will be attempting to sell my 350Z and 600RR later this year though. No longer required.

    Order a 2017 M3 instead of a 2016.

Started bagging my lunch 3-4 times a week on a more serious note. But that isn't even offsetting my boycott of Calgary transit...

Myself, I am pretty much cancelling all international vacations, and going to travel Canada much more. Just came back yesterday from Yellowknife (loved it), thinking Newfoundland, PEI, Montreal and all that, then most likely Yukon and other far out places. Might as well do it now as that won't revolve any USD.

I am thinking of heading to Cuba soon though...never been, and want to go there before American's fuck it all up.

As for work, I am fairly secure I think, but actually applied for a new place today. Have enough savings to weather a good storm should shit hit the fan, but never worked in OG directly so my jobs are usually pretty isolated from oil price fluctuations.

So far I have only had to buy two weeks of extra vacation so that is basically like a 4% pay cut. That is not enough to make me change anything day to day.

But with the uncertainty, I may delay replacing my car until later in the year. My plan was spring/summer so I am hoping things have sorted themselves out by then so I can still go ahead with it.

I also know my bonus will be $0 this year and no increase, which both suck, but something I can deal with as long as I am still working.

Might cancel any trips outside of Canada this year, wanted to buy an E46 M3 but may hold off on that too. If I get laid off I'd like to go do an MBA, spend money there instead

Planning a switch from US trip to F1 trip to Montreal instead.

There is nothing to cut from my daily life other than downsizing the house which is a bad time for that any way. I live pretty lean.

Buy a 6 pack, instead of the usual 12

    Also:

    Take the train more
    Stop spending like liberace
    Actually save some money
Start selling some useless crap I always buy for no apparent reason
Get a better data plan on my current bill cause I always max it
Stop taking out hoes for dinner, invite hoes over and make them dinner
