Default 2015 F1 Pre Season Tests

So far, ferrari fastest because Vettel didn't get to use his finger once last year. Mercedes pounded out 160 laps, mind blowing reliability for a new car and engine package on the first day of testing. As for Mclaren? Same issues as the first test.

It sounds terrific though, just like the dying Renaults from last year's test haha.

I really hope McLaren sorts things out.

Ferrari power is 1-2 with decent reliability. It's early, but I had higher hopes for Lotus this year with Mercedes power. (I guess actually completing laps is a start)

    1. Sebastian Vettel Germany Ferrari-Ferrari 50 laps 1m 20.984s
    2. Felipe Nasr Brazil Sauber-Ferrari 74 laps 1m 21.762s
    3. Valtteri Bottas Finland Williams-Mercedes 61 laps 1m 22.049s
    4. Lewis Hamilton Britain Mercedes-Mercedes 91 laps 1m 22.490s
    5. Max Verstappen Netherlands Toro Rosso-Renault 58 laps 1m 24.167s
    6. Pastor Maldonado Venezuela Lotus-Mercedes 41 laps 1m 26.069s
    7. Jenson Button Britain McLaren-Honda 5 laps 1m 54.655
    8. Daniil Kvyat Russia Red Bull-Renault 18 laps No Time

Hamilton had a water leak that ended his day early.

McLaren eventually ran 1 more lap, and Button says they fixed all the problems. If they don't churn out 100+ laps then this test is officially a fail for them.

Looks like the Merc broke down again today. Not bad considering how many laps they have done so far.
Ferrari looking so far piling on the laps.
McLaren seems to have issues after issues. Hope they have it all fixed by the second test.

IMO its better to find the issues during the test than not. I'm glad to hear SOMETHING on the Benz broke, because if it didn't this week it would have probably happened in Melbourne.

I would like to see them go a bit quicker. It sounds like Vettel has something to prove, that he hasn't been coasting on Newey's success all these years after all. We will see what happens in the season.

    Ham-Vet 1-2 would be a great season!

The only way Vettel can prove anything is if he gets podium finishes in a 2nd rate car, and it's not gonna happen.

I think Alonso's head would explode if both Ferrari are constantly on the podium

Might be too soon, but I don't think we can ignore Ferrari's advancement. It also doesn't look like Kimi will put up much of a fight for Seb. Alonso will probably be kicking himself this season.

This is testing. The only legitimate information you can gather is who has decent reliability. Times mean nothing.

Yup. If Vettel does well in a Ferrari it's because Alonso perfected the car for him.
If Alonso does bad, it's Vettels fault for somehow ruining the McLaren.

True. Even the reliability aspect can be misleading.

^ definitely agree with that, but simply alluding to the progress Ferrari has made.
Not like for like, but Nasr says the Ferrari PU in the Sauber feels similar to the Mercedes PU he drove last year in the Williams, so undoubtedly the gap has closed. I'm not confident Honda's gap to Mercedes will be that small at this point. Anyway, it's fun to speculate.

LOL, I'm glad you get it.

Seriously though, he needs to beat Kimi by the same number of points as Alonso did, while simultaneously finishing better than the car deserves.

Then I'll acknowledge that he's not the worst driver on the grid.
