I got a jb1, I love that it takes 10mins to pull off if you got to go to the dealer... And it's a pretty decent bump in power!

I heard the JB1 will still flag the TD1.

I had my car in last week for a few issues I was having and I got no td1. I mean if you leave it on and they physically see it then yeah but other then that I've read it's unreadable and you could leave it on and they wouldn't see it when they plugged the car in but who knows.
What kind of issues? If they aren't powertrain related (usually major as well) then they may not have probed far enough to actually need to know if it's been tuned or not yet. I wouldn't assume they will never find it. Manufacturers usually will ask for engine/powertrain calibrations before allowing a dealer to perform any major warranty work (IE opening an engine or transmission, maybe even a diff).Originally posted by shtock99

I have to admit it seems like the people running TD1 are always throwing codes. Principally it's a lot like the old SAFC II in that you are altering what the ECU thinks it's seeing. I'm sure it's okay for some people but I thought we were past the days of piggyback tuning.

You can be tuned (flashed not piggyback) and not get TD1.... but just know that the risk is always there, no guarantees.

From what I gather; the adage 'old is new again', is to give the best odds in not flashing a TD1. Hence a piggyback programmer. I've only come across Neuspeed, and JB1.Originally posted by heavyD

My R now has exhaust, flash, intake & hpfp. Won't do that on a new R off the get-go, but looking for at least a similar performance.

You can build the 2017 on the website now along with the 16 and both brochures are up. Looks like though the cost came up on the 17, the tech package went down in price so loaded net is $600. You cannot choose the nice wheel option yet though which would be what, maybe $1000?
Looks like outside of the 19" wheels, the 17 comes with TPMS and the tech package includes voice control on the infotainment system and light assist. Blindspot and rear traffic are now standard.

We test drove this Golf R. It was fun, but something you spoil your high schooler with if they get straight A's.
