Hi just read through the posts and seen that you might be in the market years from the post which would be now. Unfortunately Ryan is no longer with us but I would like to assist in the acquisition of an R if you are in the market for one

Everyday is a great day when you drive a VW
Anyone know if you can spec the new MK7 Golf R without Digital Cockpit? Or am I simply have to order the S3?
Digital cockpit is standard on the 2018 R so I think you are out of luck. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
And here, I'd like to see the GTI get the digital cockpit.

Thanks for the reply! I was hoping to save a bit getting a Golf R but then again Audi Exclusive and VW Custom colours cost the same. Miami Blue S3 it is.This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
I’m in the market for a new VW.. does anyone have any current recommendations for sales guys//dealerships?
I talked to James at the new Country Hills VW last weekend and he was very easy to talk to and knowledgeable. He definitely is an auto enthusiast and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend him even though I wasn’t really there to buy anything. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
When would be the best time to order a 2019 GTI? Any info on them yet?
I got cold called by Gary Moe, telling me I was at a "good point in my lease" in terms of equity. I mentioned I was interested in the 2019 GTI, since there's rumours of the digital dash coming over. He told me he had no word on the 2019 yet, tried to upsell me on a Golf R even though I told him it was out of my budget. He then told me if I financed, maybe we could make it happen. I told him my monthly budget, and he tried to sell it to me as bi-weekly. He also tried to sell me on the "performance" and "extra features" of the Golf R over the GTI, which made me feel like he didn't quite know his customer, as I've done extensive research and cross shopping of the Golf R vs GTI vs Golf Sportswagen.
I told him I wasn't interested in paying $680/month, I lease as a write off, and I was cross-shopping with a G70 if I wanted performance/AWD. He never replied after that. I miss dealing with Ryan.

I have bought two cars from GMVW when Ryan was there and will most likely shop elsewhere if I'm in the market for another VW. It's not the same without Ryan and their pricing is now the same or higher than a dealership in Calgary or Edmonton.
Agreed. I'll likely be shopping at either CHVW or 5th Ave VW if I'm in the market for another VW.

I dont know when the best time to order but I bet it would take 2-3 months to get the car based on the RFD GTI Group

In Edmonton, Norden VW was the best for pricing, GMVW was around 1500$ more than what I was able to negotiate from Chris.

Any recommendations where to go for a good deal on a R nowadays?
I’d consider a s3 right now. Golf r has no deals in the way of financing, I’ve been watching for months.
Mk7 golf r is done production and there will be a mk8 molt r in the future, probably a couple years before that comes out.
They have CPO ones for 0.9% for 24 months if you don't want a 2019.
Hopefully they'll have some incentives on the 2019's next year. Post on RFD's says there's 2000 Golf R's left on lots in Canada.
This has been discussed on other forums but their current rates are terrible for finance or lease, basically price them in the realm of nicer cars. That makes sense to me there are so many on the lots still. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
Ya there appears to be tons. If .9 over 72mths comes again I might look at it. I was seriously consider a alltrak which is $39k for 72mths at 0%.
Have you driven one? I did and as much as that vehicle is perfect for my lifestyle, the power is so underwhelming, especially for $39k. If it had a GTI engine, the car would be perfect. This quote is hidden because you are ignoring this member. Show Quote
