I have about 2600kms on mine now. Best tank was 500kms with most of it being highway driving. I believe the car calculates 11/100L. I do drive the car in manual mode often and "spirited".

I always get 600- 620. I drive mostly deerfoot to work. I leave it in individual with everything in sport except dcc which is in comfort.

With 98% inner city driving I get ~11.5/100km. Drove it to Edmonton a couple times and got ~8.6/100km with 4 adults in the car. Just <20K on mine right now.

I drive from the SW to the NE recently usually on 16th/memorial and I'm averaging about 10.2-10.6 range. Also depends how often the car gets thrown into race mode when I'm not in rush hour

    Car is just over 4000kms.

Can people discuss what payments are looking like? Dont want to scroll all 36 pages, or if not maybe someone can PM me? GF's car (that we share) may be a write off and im trying to debate between taking over someones GTI lease for a year or two, or getting an R....

One is more practical budget wise, and while i could afford an R, car ADD may kick in in 2-3 years and id rather not take the 'new car' hit

Best bet is to ask Ryan directly, he'll give you the exact numbers and be better than anyone in here. As everyone has different packages, gti vs r, lease vs finance, and depending when you purchased different % and residual.

Nice updates to the GTI, no word on the R yet.
    http://www.vwvortex.com/news/volkswa...ture-controls/

Not everything will be touchlessly operable, though, so new, bigger screens (up to 9.2 inches) are being added to the Golf, which do away with the physical buttons of the current generation. Instead, everything will be done through the touch-sensitive tablet-like screen in the center console.

Information won’t be limited to the center console, though, as Volkswagen’s Digital Cockpit will replace the conventional, analog dials (speedometer and tachometer) with digital versions.

Much like Audi’s lauded virtual cockpit, the new instrument cluster features a 12.5 inch screen that can change the dial sizes to prioritize navigation or vehicle information.

Plugging your phone into the car won’t be an issue anymore, either, as an inductive pad will allow you to charge and connect your phone to the car wirelessly.
Under the hood come new engines with more power and efficiency. The European GTI, for instance, will come with about 10 more horsepower (roughly 230 hp) in standard guise, and 15 more (245 hp) in Performance trim. A new 1.5-liter gas engine is also being introduced in Europe that gets up to 51 mpg, but that engine likely won’t find its way to our shores. The relevant information here, then, is more power more, more efficiency, model year 2018.

The new engines will send power through a manual transmission or a newly developed 7-speed DSG dual clutch ‘box that’ll phase out the current 6-speed DSG.
I think maybe I will wait for the refresh to buy an R based on the interior so far.

Looks like 2018 MY so sometime next year here. I think generally the refreshes come faster than actual models.

Volkswagen has revealed its updated Golf, set to go on sale in Europe in 2017 and in the US in 2018. Outside there are a few minor changes, but the real updates are happening to the infotainment system, which gets new, bigger screens, not that you even have to touch them now that you’ll have gesture controls.

Probably place orders in June/July/Aug for delivery in Oct/Nov/Dec if it's like this year.

    I'm waiting for the 18 I think. But I'm a dash/gauge whore.

Good idea to wait. The new 2018 R could get a HP bump like the GTI did. Can easily be a 310hp R.

Canada specific - Digital dash only on the Golf R, led tails/headlights for all golf range - no word on a power bump.

Nice. The only issue is that display is pretty low res for that size.
These interactive functions will appear with extreme clarity thanks on the 12.3-inch colour display with a resolution of 1,440 x 540 pixels.

^^ No way lol. Our cars look way better than that face lifted crap front end anyway.

Also I bet there will be a price increase.

In my experience over the decades, mid-model facelifts are changes for the better 80% of the time yet owners of the outgoing style always say the old style was much better. In this case the front end changes are so marginal only an owner would notice but the rear taillights are far better as is the interior except maybe the steering wheel airbag cover.
