Looks great, what did you do for tires as it looks like you've got the prets with the summers on there?
Picked up a set of 18's with some 225/40/18 studded Sailun Ice Blazers.
Nice! I've got an R up in Edmonton waiting for me to pick it up, I'm just trying to figure out what to do about the Wheels / tires right now.Originally posted by 94boosted

There are some 17s that clear the brakes but not all - VW has some nice oem ones that people out east have been getting for a reasonable price. Does any dealer do a good spare tire kit or are we stuck ordering it all online?Originally posted by theedge111

last time I priced it out I think it was around 600. But the wheel here is crazy expensive for w.e reason vs the USA. Again I think there is still one on the fb page. Approx 150Originally posted by Khyron

Little bit of news for the 2018 facelift Golf R in Europe.
Now with Performance Options including
-Semi Slick Tires
-Performance Brakes
-Titanium Exhaust system (Akropovic!)
http://www.volkswagen-r.de/en/r/golf/
Wonder if we will see any of these options in Canada.
Anyone know the owner of a Golf R lic plate HEYBERT?
Hey Bert, you drive like a fucking asshole and you're extremely lucky that my gf was in my car. Your golf is not a race car and you're still a 45 year old midget even in a fast car.
Stopping traffic to talk to your bro in the other lane and cutting off other drivers with inches to spare with a quick signal is a great way to win friends.
seeing if theres any interest for someone to take over my R lease. I got on board with the good residual train back then and payments are ~$560+GST with 35 months remaining. Please pm if interested

I drove an S3 on the weekend and wow, what a little car. One thing that really stood out is that the S-Tronic has no input delay on the manual shifts, but when I drove a GTI the DSG had so much input delay it ruined the experience. I am curious, since they are basically the same car underneath, does the Golf R get the S3 transmission/programming? Or does it have the same input delay as the GTI?
Are you sure that the GTI was in sport mode? The S3 can get lazy in comfort mode too. I don't remember my MK6 being noticeably slower.
Yup, GTI was in sport mode - anything I could do to make it shift faster. Had the sales person confirm everything was on that needed to be. Even WoT shifts near redline had the same delay. The S3 was in "Dynamic" and the input lag was virtually nonexistent. The input delay in the GTI was enough to make me not want to use the paddles at all, which was a huge part of the initial excitement for me. Maybe I'm just pickier than most, which wouldn't surprise me haha. The shifts themselves were very fast, it was the delay between the paddle input and the beginning of the shift that threw me right off. Older Mercedes AMG products did the same thing and it sucked all the fun out of the video game / race car experience the paddles are supposed to give.Originally posted by lilmira

I think I had higher expectations of the DSG (perhaps too high) and that was a big reason I didn't end up buying a GTI since I am such a big fan of DCT's.
