Yeah I have no idea how it's changed for 2019/20. I was talking to Ryan when he was still at Gary Moe in Red Deer. Part of the problem was they wouldn't drop the ~$500 bs admin fee, so if you found a dealer that would, it would be a bit cheaper yet. I tried to check my emails for exact numbers but all pricing was over the phone. I don't remember what the lease rates were either back then but it was for sure a 4 year and zero down. I don't think anyone has a $330-350/mo 4-year lease on a desirable model (5-door with options). If they do that is a pretty great deal or they put money down.
5 Door with DSG and Driver assistance package. $350/month + GST. This was a common price for these until VW changed the way they residualize things I believe.

Looks like that is a 2018 thread - my info is from 2017 so a bit dated. The OP of that thread also doesn't mention if he put money down on the lease. $350 is a pretty good deal with DSG and Driver Assistance if it's 4 years, zero down, and good KM allowance. I remember what I didn't like was you had to buy the highest possible model to get a stereo that didn't sound like a tin can - I hope it becomes a standalone option for the next gen. I think Mercedes is the only manufacturer offering things like premium audio and heated steering wheels as standalone options on any trim level on their 'cheap' cars - I really wish more manufacturers did that.

I’ve only driven the Civic Type R and the sound system is average at best, comparable to a base Golf. Does the Sport Touring have a superior setup?

Not in my opinion - the premium sound system in the Civics is nothing special. Better than your basic setup but that's about it, and the sub crossover is set too low. Comparable with the "premium" audio in most other economy cars, but a far cry from what you would find as an upgrade in a luxury vehicle. Did you mean to post that in another thread? Kind of a weird comparison.

The base stereo in a GTI was was one of the worst I heard while shopping, however the Fender option is/was a big improvement - I think it only came on the Highline model or whatever the top trim was.

Then again, this was my old car so there aren't many stock stereo systems that sound great to me as I was spoiled by $50K in competition audio gear:

Alright so I got interested and the obvious next step is to buy one. I'm not shopping in Calgary, but I can get a rabbit gti dsg otd under 42k @0%. Am I gonna get a price much better than that? That was my first dealership I went into and when I realized the price difference was 2k for a slightly used and new I just asked for the price.

MSRP for a Rabbit DSG is $35,395 plus fees and taxes.

    If that total is < $42k then it's a good deal, if it's > $42k then it's a bad deal.

A fully loaded one is $40,905 otd, and that includes the $1,750 for DAP, which i personally think is a waste. Unless they loaded it with every accessory and prepaid maintenance, I don't see how that's a good deal.

The rabbit gti is the same as far as I can tell, but we're a long a way on my trade in lol, never thought I'd get docked for having studded winters but I guess that's Vancouver lol.

I guess my original question was if MSRP was as good as it gets.

I have a 2019 Rabbit GTI 6spd in Cornflower blue. 3 biggest differences -> You can't get leather (Cloth only), no sunroof, and you get the DCC (Dynamic Chassis Control). Otherwise it's pretty identical to an Autobahn. I also did get the DAP, because I loved having the radar cruise control on my 2016 GTI.

Getting a Rabbit GTI vs an Autobahn was something like 3k cheaper. I got mine below MSRP.

Not sure if it was your car but saw a GTI Rabbit in Cornflower blue in bridgeland yesterday and it was absolutely stunning. What a beautiful car and made me really miss my R.

Not me, but I do love the colour. It pushed me over the edge from an Alltrack. At the time, I was the second person in the city to have one in that colour. Since then, I've seen a few others floating around. I'm still torn on my decision to go manual over DSG. I miss the DSG of my previous one, but I wanted to save the money, and have more control in the winter. Now that I'm at a job where I do more commuting in, rather than taking transit, I really miss the DSG some days.

I saw back in Oct there was a purple 2018 for sale (by owner, who was moving?) in Calgary. Is that the same car, or are there two in Calgary?

That one is different, mine is from south centre and was CPO from ontario. I know south centre had a new 2019 identical to mine soon after I bought it so at least 3 I think. I have seen one other around town parked at chinook, not sure which though. I think the only other spektrum I have seen though is the kind of british racing green. Around when I bought mine, most of the new 2019s brought in here seemed to all be spektrums.

Would have been cool if they did a take on the Harlequin Golf.
