My son has been looking forward to the Bruins game for the past year. SO excited. Looked on kijiji and fell for a scam. Guy contacted me, had seasons tickets, said he can transfer them via email. (I checked, yes this can be done legitimately) Sent me a photo of his passport to show he wasn't a scammer. (Should've been a red flag).

Sent him the money, but sent it via "friends and family gift". I didn't realize this voids Paypals buyer protection policies.

Aaaand the rest is history. Fuck. $250 beans down the toilet.

it's obviously not the scammers ID. But showing this guy's name and passport hopefully either he sees it so he knows someone is using his identity or at the very least someone else doesn't get taken like I did.

Honestly...I didn't make this thread for anyone to feel sorry for me. It was my own stupidity that got me into it...I just wanted to warn others. I do a lot of online transactions, and am pretty hip to any type of frauds, so more than anything I was just embarrassed, but thought a few could benefit from my mistake.

Having said that, I WAS really disappointed about missing a key game for my boy. As some of you may know, he's special needs, and is a member of Special Olympics Calgary and hockey is his life.
He's been dying to see Chara in real life for years now. For some reason he loves tall players lol.

Guys...JRS, Fraser, Graham...thank you so much for the kind offer. Yes, Shelton offered me his tickets. Shelton...I'm speechless man. I wasn't expecting this at all. (damn onions in the air). I'm by no means a welfare bum, but this is an extremely appreciated gift, that I wouldn't have been able to cover..twice. I would like to pay this forward in some way. Either to you directly, Shelton or in some other way.

One of my son's best friend (Downes kid) really loves hockey too, so I will be taking him for sure.
