2015 200C driving impression?

Has anyone driven a new one with v6 and awd and 9 speed? As much as I hated the old 200 i really like this new design.

The wrangler is a blast 5% of the time, but as a daily it gets old. the price point on the 200c with every option is only $36k or only 33k without adaptive cruise using employee pricing.

I was looking at an altitude edition grand cherokee, which gets a few key options and looks great but is still $45k my cost. So was thinking of changing my direction again and get a car for the daily and an older jeep for the trails

^ yeah there is absolutely no way in hell I'd drop that kind of coin on a 200c. Compared to a Regal GS, I own the latter and I'd take that any day over the 200c. I'm extremely happy with mine.

Lease it if you must, chrysler cars shy of the big loaded C are pits of depreciation and problems. Grand Cherokees are expensive and have issues as well.

I'm not scared off chrysler'so reliability issues, well should say in 4 years of ownng two different ones I had no serious issues and only one issue which was fixed in a day. They cars do depreciate a ton, but my wrangler is doing ok but based on the employee pricing I typically can get out of anything clean in 2-3 years tops, basically constructing my own "lease" plan


The reason I pointed out the regal gs, is similar performance stats yet I can get 200C $12k cheaper than a regal.

With no premium / German dealers down here I usually have to stick with domestic or Japanese brands and nothing out there is doing it for me.

I want back a ton of interior toys and is a decent daily / highway ride, and don't want another compact but want to spend less than $40k This time.

So what competes for $36k loaded to the tits out there?

Check out the Ford Fusion Titanium AWD. Pretty decent engine, great looks and pretty awesome interior. Worth looking.

^ those turbos have the same power plant you'll find in a GS, just with a detuned ECU program. A good program will get you some very very impressive numbers without doing anything else.

If the dealerships are part of the problem, why not drive the 1.5ish hours to Calgary?

A 200C for $36K is a complete rip off IMHO, and you could not pay me to own a Chrysler product. Especially if you're after quality, that is the last place you should be looking.

What about a Golf R 5-door for $4K more? Or too small?

Or a nicely optioned A3 or CLA?

On the used side your options are almost endless for higher-end 2-3 year old cars at $36K - warranty remaining and most of the depreciation gone.

I heard Lethbridge Subaru is better than the Calgary stealerships but that doesn't say much.

The GS is the only GM I really like other than the V's which are out of the question. The non gs just doesn't do it for me.

I should explain myself better. I started looking at a Challenger and figured too big of a car to only be a two door. Not really a functional car, but my kid fits fine . Then I realized the Durango's are the exact same length as the challenger so I took one out and I really liked the way it drove and handled and figured it would be a great do it all ride. As I am a sucker for functionality / space / storage . The price was $55k + so I wondered if I could live with v6 version but figured it would be slow as balls so I started thinking about the same motor in the 200 with couple thousand less lbs should be fun and is pretty cheap.

So I don't need a new ride, but am bored with the Jeep. I usually stick with chrysler due to employee pricing but I wouldn't mnd checking out the golf R. Is VW magicians with interior space like bmw? Do you know when they are landing?

Mitsu I simply don't have any premium dealers here for warranty work. not sure how German dealers feel about getting their cars oil changed at mr lube and then having to bring It to Calgary for recommended maintenance .

Xtrema, lethbridge Subaru was actually great when I bought my sti, I just figured the legacy would be a bit boring, but honestly I haven't even bothered looking at them. I think I may skip the midsize family segment altogether

You dont have to have recommended maintenance work done at a dealership

You may feel there is a difference in quality of work, but it really comes down to a business' owner/manager's mentality and their employees.

Just because a tech works at a dealership doesnt mean they are good.

Well I don't get why people love the last 200C (probably because it was cheap) and hate this new 200C that looks way better than anything on the road right now. Never drove one but I assume it probably like any typical midsize fwd offering.

You aren't wrong, typically people with bad credit end up in a base model version of almost any brand or model. Or a sub $20k used car.

the 200c isn't the base model and can be equipped with almost any option, but I also never thought I would look twice at a 200 / sebring / avenger, but with the redisign, the value / performance per dollar seemed pretty decent. AE92 got my head back in the game when he reminded me of the depreciation. A 200 will tank worse than almost any other car and I would be stuck with it for too long.
