My GF's car gets broken into on the regular in Braeside (SW). They found a way to open her door even when it's locked, I don't know how exactly. They go in an tear her car apart looking for who knows what 2-3 times week weather permitting. Police won't do a thing without physical evidence, which they are unwilling to come collect (door handles would be covered in their prints I imagine), so it's frustrating. I get that they aren't going to launch any sort of forensic investigation, but at the same time, people are free to break into your car without fear of prosecution unless they're caught red handed which sucks haha.

If its happening that frequently, why not stake out with a paintball gun and unload on them when they try it again?

While there is nothing you can do if you have to park outside. But if garage is filled with junk, clear it so your cars can park inside.

It's frequent, but would likely require a week straight of 24/7 watching, assuming they didn't see me first. Sometimes they come mid-day, other times middle of the night. Haven't gone that far yet. There is nothing to steal, it's just super annoying and they leave her door open every time, so if we got heavy rain or snow that would suck. It's also a condo complex with outdoor parking, so I don't think we're allowed to set up a camera on private property. I suspect they are just waiting for the one time she forgets her purse in there, or maybe they are looking for medication (she's a nurse and has left her stethoscope in there before).

Had thought of doing something along those lines, however:

A) We do not want to piss them off, at which point they may graduate to vandalism, and also they know where she lives based on the parking spot.

B) In Canada, I would get in far more trouble than any criminal for doing something like that.

It's outdoor parking only, and it's an older Altima without any kind of alarm. I'm guessing they are just using a slim-jim or something to pop the locks. At this point, she just leaves it unlocked with a note inside haha - seems to be the best solution so far. I know a few of the times she forgot to lock it (which is probably why they keep coming back), but most of the time it was for sure locked and they still got in somehow.

Kind of disappointing to learn the Police are not interested in a single, small, parking lot that has had probably 20-30 break-ins regularly, and in a very short period of time (6ish months)
