glad to hear of the recovery, hopefully they searched the shop and found a bunch of other stuff, make sure you tell people in your area if they had a break in to report it so they can nail this guy even harder if they find more stuff that has been reported.

derp? How is that possibly a bad thing? I would rather a potential burglar know my house is secured (not that anyone here knows where OP's house is located anyways...) so he knows my house will be the hardest on the block to break into.

Exactly. With all the recent break-ins in my community im going to be reinforcing my two doors into the house (front door and inside garage door) using the door devil kits, install motion sensing security floods in front of garage, front door and patio door and always keep my inside front foyer light on all night. Will also keep my trusty Louisville slugger under my bed should the need arise to enforce some vigilante justice.

I'm impressed that CPS put together an undercover deal as quickly as they did.

Anyone with toys in their garage I would recommend this unit.

    https://www.liftmaster.com/For-Homes...ies/model-8500

It has a automated locking deadbolt for the up and over door.

My parents old house had an ADT sign in the garden but no security system ever installed. Who knows if it ever made a difference, but the house was never robbed (just the garage when I left it open once as a stupid kid).

i know a lot of poeple who do this, there's no way to know if it's effective, same as a car alarm, but you just have to assume it is..

I have ADT with signs on my windows and a lawn stake. So far, nobody has tried anything. Even if someone doesn't have an alarm, I imagine most thieves would just rather move on to be sure.

Except this thief. I don't think he cares about anything, even if something is clearly a bad idea.

I agree, normally these threads contain:

    "Did you contact the police?"

"Yes but they wont do anything"

Would be neat to hear more info on how you got them to actually do something about it.
