That's a good deal as week days are like $56 at speargrass. Course is in great condition too for that price except the large sand traps but they are pretty easy to keep out of. The one girls at the front counter is pretty hot too.

Good family friend has been a member there for 10+ years and brought me out. Beautiful course.
Appreciate the feedback, I'm considering pulling the trigger on an equity membership there but it's hard to commit to just one...
My initial impression were the facilities looked quite nice, course was well kept, but the staff were a little pretentious...
Could have been because I visited in jeans
Played the back 9 at Apple creek today! Very tough course! Even in the rain, sticking the green was tough.
Ended up 9 over which isn't bad considering I've never played it and had to approach greens blind. Greens are very well protected and tough to hit.
What course is this?
I went out to pinebrook to practise both yesterday and friday, only was gonna golf today... but it's looking pretty rainy. Gonna make the call in the next hour or so.

Just ordered some used irons from golfavenue.ca. Taylormade R7s. Supposed to be golfing Hinton next weekend but the fires are a maybe
Apple creek is tough, that wetland keeps you straight or your scores high. I shot an 85 there last week, had to safe play way more than I would have liked, too many lay ups from130-170 yards as you can't see the green and there is no safe landing area near it.
Carnmoney is a very strange layout in my opinion. I like Willow Park. It is the in the best shape of any course usually and the members are by far the nicest. You can just ask to play with a group of 3 and they are more than welcoming. Met tons of good people at the course.Originally posted by Chandler_Racing

Looking to play 36 next Thursday in/around town. Does anyone know of any courses that offer a discounted rate on the second round?
I played 36 at Springbank links this year. The second round they gave us the twilight rate and threw the carts in for free.Originally posted by roopi

I ended up following through on my afternoon tee time yesterday, and it was unreal weather for golf. Warm, humid, a bit sunny, almost no wind.
played Mckenzie Meadows with a friend yesterday and yeah, it was hot and humid. I was hitting my irons really well but my driver let me down on the back nine. shot a 41 front and 53 back.

I played Shaganappi on Saturday. Shot 103, but was 3-5 putts on every hole. Frustrating as I was hitting my driver, woods and irons well. Had a few par 4's where I put the ball on the green in two, only to 4 putt.
I recently sold my old Pings (Eye 2's) that had stiff shafts and pulled my other old set of Ping ISI-K's out of the basement with regular flex shafts. Found I was getting better accuracy and slowing my swing spee down. Distance differences were difficult to measure as the lofts were different between the 2 sets.
Was using the Wilson Elite 50 low compression ball which also helped with my slow swing speed. For a cheap, surlyn cover ball, the ball was checking up on the greens.
Can anyone recommend a well performing ball in the ~$35/ case range? I prefer a softer feel that I can get some decent spin to stick greens. I also have a 110-115mph club head speed with my driver so distance isn't an issue.
I currently use Titleist NXT tour-s, and like them quite a bit, but I hate paying for them! ~$4.5/ ball is crazy! and it drives me nuts when I lose one
Buying last year's model can help bring the price down. But something similar to that Titleist ball would be:Originally posted by vengie

- Bridgestone E5/E6
- Nike RZN Red
- Callaway Supersoft($25 per dozen)
Buying recycled balls are an option too. Just don't go after the refinished ones, and buy the "mint" ones only.
