Default Breaks squeeling on a new car

I have a new 2013 volvo s60 and i have my breaks squeeling when going in reverse. My dealership says this isn't something they will fix or warranty even though I've shown them a video on my dash cam to prove the noise.

Weirdly it only happens in reverse and the colder it is the worst it can be.

They blame the compounds with the breaks and dirt getting trapped in there. When i had a chance to sit with the mechanic in my car he said if i could narrow it down to which break pad needs replaced he would replace it but the guys behind the desk said they won't.

Clearly the guys behind the desk don't want to deal with it or have an issue with me but is this something that is typically covered under warranty. Is it worth picking this battle?

Have you tried re bedding the brakes or taking it to a car wash and giving them a good low pressure spray?

Alot of high performance brakes just squeel a bit when going slow. Dont know how they are on the S60.

Pads/Rotors are never covered under warranty

Edit: Does the car have hill assist?

They're certainly big, but I don't know if they are the BEST I've tasted.

Ive tried cleaning as best i could but haven't had much luck... I suppose ill need to spend a bit of extra time and give it my full attention.

Good to know they are never under warranty.. its a bit annoying to have this issue when crappier cars I've owned never had this issue.

    It doesn't have hill assist.

Crappier cars are less prone due to crappier brakes

Common complain when moving up to a higher end car actually...

Key symptoms are low speed (reverse). Just give them a wash, then head out and get them heated up. Probably just deposits left by the pads. My car suffers the same thing when all I do is commute for a week.

Performance / quality brakes are going to make more noise and produce more dust.

See THIS service bulletin from BMW Canada.

The brakes squeak as you're backing up or when you press the brakes when backing up?

If you take anything I have to say seriously, you're gunna have a bad time.

Very common especially on higher performance brakes. I have a ton of Cadillac customers that complain of this.

It's because high end cars typically install bigger brakes than necessary for normal driving. It just means you're not driving it hard enough. Go out at night, back highway, no traffic, drive up to 160, slam on the brakes till you slow to 50. Repeat a few times.

In the summer I drive/brake hard enough where I get enough wear on the whole system, but it's not easy in winter, so I do these 160 hard braking to get the discs and pads cleaned up, and the squeal goes away for a few weeks.

This may sound crazy, but it is totally true. I did it in my sti when I would here a noise from the brakes and it worked like a charm. Make sure there is no one behind you haha

The other thing could be a small rock stuck, so try washing them directly like mentioned above. I knew someone with a new Audi A4 that had horrible squealing without any braking applied and it turned out to be a little pebble stuck in there. Good luck to you.

The caliper carrier pins on my z rusted solid and wouldn't release tension all the way causing my brakes to squeal when reversing. This is obviously not the problem here.... lol

My B200 is doing this now, but it's rhythmic so it has to be a spot on one of the discs.

I'm trading it in next month, so I just turn the stereo up and it goes away.

Actually, Mercedes covers pads and rotors for the first 2 years. Never say never.

Read this as using reverse, forward would do as well.
