    Default Jeremy Clarkson suspended

    Bad news everyone!

Top Gear host Jeremy Clarkson has been suspended by the BBC "following a fracas" with a producer.

    Read more here .

Surely this is the end of the remaining car culture in Calgary?

    Funny reading the tweets...

Jeremy Clarkson has outgrown the BBC and TG. Time to move onward to his own gig on his own terms. Clarkson will be out of work for less time than it takes for a cup of tea to cool. Without Jeremy Clarkson TG is a lesser show, without some wanker producer the show remains as good as ever. The talent calls the shots, not some no name producer. Does anyone watch the show for the producer value? Could anyone name a producer?

Jeremy Clarkson and Chris Harris on a show would be interesting, they'd need a third wheel though, someone female possibly.

When I think of England I think of three things...

    1) McLaren
    2) The Royals
    3) Top Gear

Or mathematically McLaren + The Royals + Top Gear = England

The Royals with their scandals right now = shit.

McLarens are generally around the $1,000,000 mark which might as well be infinity since I'll never be able to afford one so McLaren = ∞

Since Jeremy Clarkson pretty much IS Top Gear with two supporting hosts. We can say Jeremy Clarkson = Top Gear.

Since Jeremy Clarkson = 0 that would mean Top Gear = 0 so mathematically that means England = ∞ + shit + 0 or that England is infinitely shitty.

Pretty sure my calculations are accurate. Don't question it.

    I like your math^

Does Clarkson still own the majority of the show or did he sell his share to the BBC a few years ago? Thought I read something on that but I don't remember.

Clarkson is Top Gear. BBC is no doubt getting tired of his antics but would they risk turfing their most watched show over it? I love Hammond and May too but it started out as Clarkson's show and it still very much is

^ He sold that off. BBC own it now, he should have kept it IMO. That show is never going to drop in terms of audience.

It might if they fire Clarkson and May and Hammond decide to go with him

Do you remember the failure of a show called Top Gear "North America" or whatever?

Seriously, if JC leaves, and May and Hammond stay, viewership will easily fall off the map in really quick order, and cancelled within 2 years TOPS.

Jeremy makes the show, and provides the cohesion. Without him, there really is no show.

Top Gear USA is still on, as terrible as it is.

If Jeremy left, he'd probably just go to Fifth Gear, and be a little more serious (no hi-jinx, but still funny)

    well, shit.

if TG USA is still on somehow, the TG itself will still be around even if a Hippo and a monkey are the hosts.

I retract my previous statements. LOL

I still feel this working out to become he gets banned and the show gets banned. Then they don't have to say, we're out of ideas and the series ends.

Better to burn out than to fade away.

    My theory at least.

BBC owns the right to Top Gear so they can do without him. But the show surely wont be the same. On the other hand, Top Gear makes drug money for BBC Worldwide while BBC loses billions. I'm not sure if they can afford to lose JC

I'd like to see Clarkson doing a show on HBO or Showtime, give him free reign to be as creative as he likes, big budget and no censorship. A Top Gear for adults. Clarkson was Top Gear, he was the star, he was the draw, suits forget shit like this and think they are the talent. No one ever went to a hockey game to watch the refs, coaches or even the weasel faced Gary Bettman.

Here is how it will play out for Clarkson:
    - Clarkson forced out of Top Gear by BBC
    - Top Gear rating falls
    - BBC cancels the show altogether
    - Clarkson buys back the rights to Top Gear at a fraction of the cost
    - Top Gear returns but not on BBC
